NO, NO, and PLEASE NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is one of the biggest misconceptions of our sport today. Tournament directors that don't hire "quality" referees and rely on the "pros" to show up and help. Trust me, more "pros" don't know all the rules than do! Not to mention, you're talking about Novice - newcomers, beginners - so you better make sure you have qualified top notch people on the table refereeing. Let me rephrase what I meant. Pros that have experience with Novice and are comfortable with the rules and put pulling safe before everything else. TAA has several that may be able to help if there was a match involved or incentive for them to travel that far to ref. A novice tournament in northern MS shouldn't conflict with FL state especially if others come from TN to support a novice event. Do you disagree? Have the TN guys go to FL and then everyone go to this MS tournament on another weekend!

Why is everyone so stuck on doing a novice only tournament? A tournament in MS sounds like a great idea since is in between AL and LA, but limiting it to novice is going to hurt it. Why not have novice and open classes? If you think about it, guys that pull open aren't as likely to show up just to watch a tournament, and many times, they are the ones bringing many novice pullers with them to tournament? Again, what is the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results! There countless open class events geared towards all the same people, so at this point with the amount of pullers out there to support ALL of these events why would we continue to water down tournaments by adding more of them? A novice only event is not meant to draw open class spectators it is meant to bring in new people and bring them into an environment where they can be competitive immediately, it open class pullers were bringing novice pullers to every event the novice classes would be stacked right? Yet we constantly see results posted with 2 or 3 people in a class How many of you like long drawn out events? So what makes you think someone who is just dabbling into the sport is going to like it? There is a place for novice/open events actually the majority correct? If its gonna grow its only gonna happen by bringing in people from the 99.9% who are not armwrestlers crowd. Most of the tournaments I have gone to have many novice pullers show. And like I said, many of them are the ones that the open pullers bring with them, and have been training with more experienced pullers. And yes supermatches may be a way to help it out. Being from the south, there are very few close tournaments, meaning I have to travel to go to them as well. So the more closer tournaments the better. If there are novice only tournaments turning away the experienced pullers, how do you expect to keep their interest too? Remember, the experienced people need to be there as well to try and help "recruit" the novices pullers and help train them! What's the point in having a bunch of novice pullers trying to learn from each other?

You should preach the cash payout, not supermatches! If everyone comes to pull supermatches and not the tournament them no payouts.... Just saying
