Great Job Todd,
I like that you created your own new fresh idea.
Very creative. I can't wait to see how the event goes.

We will be doing a radio interview to discuss his fresh ideas. ROTN will not be applying the new rules. Just want to lay that out there to not create confusion. I hope everyone keeps their mind open and try it out because it is just that. a new creative idea. but it can't be tried out with out pullers so experiment with us gary

Great Shane ! I'm hoping for 16 people, realistically I expect 8. These folk'll be part of history. 10 years from now when your sitting with your kids on the couch watching the weekly Tuesday Night Arm Wrestling on ESPN 8 The Ocho . You'll say " Little Todd, I was at the very first one of these back in South Carolina". "That bald headed dude was one goofy hillbilly, but he made arm wrestling Big Time."

1st place $153.00, Matt Harris, 184 pounds fully dressed. 2nd place $43.00 Chris Chandler, 175 pounds. Chris made 160.000 the day before after spending 90 minutes in the sauna and stripped down to a PG-13 level of nudity.
The finals saw Matt Harris winning the first right hand match in 2 seconds with a top roll.
Chris Chandler won the next match, left handed, in 5.12 seconds. I think he hit inside but finished with a top roll. He grips under his thumb so maybe it looked funny, or my memory isn't accurate.
The next match was right handed and Matt Harris top rolled and won.
The score is now 2-1, because Chris Chandler is the lighter competitor, he only needs 2 wins to take 1st place. So the final match is left handed and is do or die for both pullers.
Both loaded more than in the previous matches and both hit with significantly more aggression. Matt hit a little outside. The match went over to Matt's side and the pin count started. Chris Chandler surged up to stop the pin count but the ref continued and gave the match to Matt.
So now there is a bit of controversy regarding the pin. The referee (Alex Jigalko) saw a full 3 count pin. The other referee (me) saw Chris pop up but not high enough to break the pin plane. So, the two refs agree. Chris felt he came up high enough to restart the count. Gary, who was filming, thought Chris came up high enough, but in the final moment of the count and the ref (Alex) did not have enough time to stop his hand coming down to finish the count.
In the end, I refunded Chris his entry fee, and payed him second place prize money.
Competitors Mike Turner 199 pounds Ralph Smith 170 pounds Chris Chandler 175 pounds Matt Harris 184 pounds Jason Bushnell 155 pounds Angelo Zimmerman 159 pounds
A little discussion on the new rules. I was happy with some of the results, and kind of disappointed with others.
3-count pin rule. This was half way successful, it eliminates the flash pins and the controversy of whether a pin even occurred. When the 3 count is administered both referees, both competitors, and the audience are in agreement that a pin occurred. They may disagree on how long the pin was, but they all agree that a pin, in fact, did occur.
It did not make for longer matches, which was the main goal. The DaM matches ran from 1-6 seconds. The longest ROTN match was 6 seconds. Basically if you are pinned your pinned. This was true even with 2 world level, evenly matched inside pullers like Chris Chandler and Matt Harris. Chris valiantly tried to get off the pin pad, and he may have, but he did not come back to say the 10:00 position, where he may have had a chance to win the match. If he came up, it was fractions of an inch.
Right-Left back to back matches. This was successful. It kept the competitors at the table longer, allowing them to adapt their strategy. The non pulling audience thought it made perfect sense. It also places left hand pulling on equal footing with right hand.
The rest of the rules are common to both NAL (where they were developed) and ROTN, thus appear to be non controversial.
