ODE TO THE HESTERS

Thanks for the invite,
though my arms are so sore both left and right.

Allen, Nancy, and Tony showed much might,
and across the table caused me to fight.

To all the novice pullers, do not lose sight,
for today and the next your tendons will be tight.

All the youngsters one day will gain in height,
and to their oppononents will bring much fright.

And now I will close this poem in a note that is light,
until we meet 'round a bowl of chili next Friday night.
