Gene sent me this as a rebuttal to claims people made regarding his tournament.
Gene is not a member of the board and felt he didn't have an adequate way of defending himself here so he asked me to post this. However, I would like to see Gene become a member so that he can defend himself if this argument carries on.
Dan Remark;
1. - The Prices was a sin $70 for 2 arms and all you get is a framed certificate. That is the last time I will ever compete in that tourney. I have no problem spending the money I just have an aversion to getting ripped off.
Gene's Answer
"Ripped Off" would mean that you were not aware of the entry fees prior to competing. It clearly states at the NYAWA website's home page (see details at www.nycarms.com ) what the cost is for both NYAWA members and non-members, in addition to spectator admission prices.

Dan Remark:
2. Dont forget he gets sponsers during the year to run those free tourneys. I think what Geans done for amature armwrestling has been great but with all his news and media connections his events would be so much better if he did not put so much money in his pocket and spent more on the event. I sponserd a event w / Chris M. for $4000 what did the armwrestlers get, the cheapest of all Tshirts that get destroyed when you wash it. Gean said the trophys were $3000 you and I know thats crap. So to back up what Joey said $70 to pull left and right arm is a joke.We need somone to take over NY armwresling at a real pro event.
P.S. the Intrepid does not cost Gean a dime its free to have it there.
Gene Answer:
+ Local sponsors support our program, but to not pay the entire billt.
+ Just the PR and promotional efforts alone exceeds $5,000 for the Big Apple Grapple.
+ The NYAWA gives away Heavy Duty Screened Logo T-shirts and never had a problem or complaint before. This is a first for us!

3 - "would be so much better if he (Gene Camp) did not put so much money in his pocket"
Gene Answer
+ I have been promoting Arm Wrestling events for 28 years. The NYAWA promotes up to 13 events per year. We only charge an entry fee at two or three events. Ask other arm wrestling promoters; they will tell you how much money is in the promotion of arm wrestling.

5 - "the Intrepid does not cost Gene a dime its free to have it there"
Gene Answer
+ The Intrepid Museum sponsored the NYC Big Apple Grapple with use of the venue only
Gene: A Final Thought
FYI - This is a first time complaint about the NYAWA and myself. I don’t know, but Dan Fortuna and Dina both shook my hand at the Apple Grapple and were thought to be friends.
