Guy,
I just want you to know that I was NOT in anyway trying to "frown upon" Valerie at all! I never meant to insinuate that she did not train either. I was actually trying to defend her. I apologize if it came across that way.
I would also like to add that I am not a "prudeass" either. I just don't think that talking about T & A is appropriate to discuss when possible sponors are being referred to read the board. Would a sponsor really like to represent someone (a woman athlete) that people talked about crudely?
Off topic...Guy, I hope that things are going well for you.
God Bless, Tonya

Actually Olin -- People always say that the womens matches are just not there / not exciting / the numbers are not there -- guess what -- they will be come Vegas. The ladies are coming full throttle -- and will be EXCITING and Packed full of talent -- just like the guys. Would I show up in a thong -- No. and let me just say this -- Olin -- I know you didn't mean anything offensive by it - but by remarking about women wearing Thongs it belittles those of us who train our a$$es off..... Nicole Nicole, You know me personally, and as you mentioned above I didn't mean anything offensive by it right? Then why unwind on me??? I have never been one to criticize women as competitors, and I'm not going to start now. I think it is great that there are women competing in the sport, because I know how the world revolves......... "Around Women". I also know that women could have the edge on taking this sport to another level. So please do not accuse me of belittling women in the sport of armwrestling. I'm sorry you feel that way. Take care, Olin

Tonya Wood wrote : Wet t-shirts and thongs?! This is not only degrading but insulting! I am not sure about all of the ladies that compete in armwrestling but I do NOT want to be grouped in a category where we (LADIES--being the operative word) are only looked upon as cheap thrills. Ya know, we do take a little pride in the fact that we are athletes. I am an educated individual that trains like an athlete and takes the sport seriously. I believe that we should be considered serious athletes like the guys consider themselves. It is hard enough to shake the sterotypical dial "900 phone sleezes" without you guys adding to it. Who cares whose rear is better looking?! I think the true competitors want to be "scored" on ability and true athleticism. Please stop portraying the ladies in such a demeaning manner. Just my thoughts..... God Bless, Tonya Tonya that was VERY well put. I'm not downing anyone at all. but I think that the focus on women in this sport has shifted over to sexual overtones. it isnt anything towards anyone in particular, its on a whole. I am not trying to preach or anything like that. But think of the legendary female pullers... Mary "momma bear" Mac. Dot Jones, Elaine Blick, Josea Morneu (sp?) I could go on and on.. Now ask yourself if they would like the focus on femal armwrestlers shining on an A$$ competition, or wet tshirts and thongs. I am not trying to come down on Olin for saying that so dont get me wrong. I know he was kidding and I am sure everyone else did as well. BUT us GUYS often jump on people for mispromoting this sport when it comes to us. Why is this different? I just personally think that this type view is bad business... men or women.. as if anyone wants to see a man in a thong..lol Now the haters can hate J

I, too, think it is a bit degrading to generalize women in that light. I do not think Olin meant it that way (as you all know by now). Olin is a nice guy...when he is asleep, but hey that is something completely different. ;D (j/k dude) .. as if anyone wants to see a man in a thong..lol Now the haters can hate J Jeremy, I wasn't going to say this, but I think Ryan T. would love to see you in a thong with your helmet on. Or at least that is what he told me.

I respect the ladies' opinion, but I wanna respond to the comment made about promoters looking at the boards. Its obvious that we live in a sex driven media world. If promoters take interest in a female wrestler, it will most likely be one that they can get positive feedback from. Its all about the money in the end, so they will actually be interested in the fact that there are women with sex appeal in the sport. To them it would be a missing ingredient in armwrestling. To them it would draw more ppl in. Look at the tennis girl, whats her face, Anna Kornikova I think. Theres a good example of a sellout. Sometimes the athlete willingly agrees, and money and popularity overshadow self respect. She didnt even continue tennis afterwards, so there goes my respect for her. It's a shameful world we live in, but thats the way it is sometimes.
However, there is nothing wrong with looking good. As long as you don't come out wearing sleezy outfits. The girls in the olympics for example. Some are nice on the eyes, as well as great athletes! I have respect for their athletisism, and if present, their looks as well. It's totally natural.
Everything in moderation.

Edwin, You have great points. But keep in mind that armwrestling is not yet on the level of Women's Tennis and untill it is..impressions are a big thing. At this level the actions of few will reflect on the whole. Know what I mean?
Allen, I WILL NOT wear a thong.. no matter what Ryan's desires. lol Besides Animal is better looking than I am ;D

I totally agree, thats why I said no sleezy outfits (not that any of our women would wear any). And an appealing armwrestler (man or woman) has the potential to bring more fans, and more sponsors and promoters. This however doesnt mean that I or any other armwrestler only sees good looks when watching women wrestle. We are in the same sport, and therefore have an appreciation for their talent, more so than an audience member or fan I would say.
