Catherine, thank you for your concern about the ladies' results! We tend to get "lost" in the sea of males on this board, don't we? The competition was outstanding! There were 11 in the 143 class and 7 in the open. Nicole gave results, however in the 143 class, the 3rd and 4th place girls were Wendy Lynde from Utah and Jennifer Hoffert from California. You may ask "what happened to Tamara and Elaine?", as I know others are wondering, but not asking directly on the board. Tamara may come on and explain her troubles, but what I know from talking to her is that she had a "bad day"... period. Everyone does have a bad day now and again. Just ask me, I should know! In my 4th match (following Barb Z) I injured my right arm. Actually sounded and felt like it broke, but didn't. I apparently have a tendon that "flipped" over my muscle which constricted it from exerting anything. The popping noise was the tendon moving around the muscle. So, needless to say it was very disappointing as I had looked forward to pulling Malin. I'm hoping for full recovery but I don't know at this point. It was a fantastic event, though and certainly look forward to next year, as well as upcoming events in '05.

Hi there Catherine!
Thank you for asking about the girls. For me it went GREAT, couldn´t have been better. I was on top, and I learned alot from the Switzerland competition what I SHOULD not do again. Like...NOT EATING! ha, ha, ha
I placed 2:nd after Barb Salepa, we had two GREAT matches. She is such a tough girl.
About Tamara Mitts, I think she got a bad draw. She was DEFINANTLY one of the best 4. And Elaine Blik, she injured herself....that was toooo bad.
I was on real fire. I felt strong that day, and I really wanted to win. I had my fighting spirit in me that I sometime miss on some competitions. Soon I have the Swedish nationals and will try my best to win it...have Heidi Andersson in my weight class...
Then I´ll go to England in the end of May, then the Europeans in the middle of June. Will you go???
I feel like I am in top-form now, and it was a GREAT competition in Vegas. With alot of GREAT WOMAN.
NICOLE was really AWESOME!!!! You should have seen her. She was ON FIRE!!! Congratulations Nicole!!! I told you, you could do it....AND GIRL...YOU REALLY DID!!! I´m proud of you!!!!!
About pictures, you wheren´t aloud to take any with flash on, and my camera SUCKS without the flash so I couldn´t take any pics. Sorry....
It was great to meet you girls, Nicole, Elaine (even though we didn´t have the opportunity to pull with each other) and Tamara...and all the rest of course.
I hope to see you next year...maybe I can get Catherine to come with me..SHE IS STROOOONG!!!
Now I´m gonna go to sleep, I have just arrived home from Vegas...TIRED!!!!
Hugs malin

Sounds like everyone had some tough matches, but eventually pulled threw. Nicole I knew you could do it. You said it was going to be tough, but we (Todd and I) had confidence in you.
Elaine, I know how you feel about your tendon popping. I did it two years ago. It will heal and your arm will be stronger. You will just have to give yourself time to heal.

Hi girls and ... guys !! Thanks for these infos It was probably the best competition this year.... I missed it !! I'll try to be there next year Malin, don't worry. It seems that your experience in Switzerland has helped you..you're right it's better not to eat ha ah. I'm not going to Arm Wars except if I win at the lottery but we will meet in Belgium if you go there. Anyway, congratulations for your great results and to all other ladies.... be back next year and train hard. Hugs. Catherine

:)Well I have to say the Vegas event was everything it was thought to be!! For everyone who missed it, you missed out on alot. John , Dave and the Plaza...thank you for a memoriable event. First class all the way. It was great to see so many countries represented there. What happened to me....bad draw..yes...I couldn't believe the only two canadian girls got the first draw together....bad day ...yes...I injuried myself about two weeks ago training but I didn't think the injury was that bad. I had nothing at the table like I did before my last tourny in Oshawa on March 26th.( Mike Gould Classic) But no excuses here....the best of the best was in each class and I wasn't there this time. Thats ok, next tourny and next year brings better things. Yes I was deeply disappointed on how I did and not being in the final four but to only get better you learn from your mistakes and your losses. Congrats to Malin on all her hard training. You pulled awesome!! Congrats to Barb for pulling hard and coming out on top. You certainly had to work for it but you were victorious. Elaine I really hope you heal but take your time. I had a similiar injury with the tendon in my wrist and its not an easy thing to heal. To the rest of the girls in the class, great work and its always great to see the numbers getting bigger. Hope to see you all again soon in a tourny. Congrats to Nicole...all your hard training came thru. You had your head focused and your hand and arm ready. ;D

I was very impressed with all the women that pulled. ;D Good to see all that talent in one place at one time. I would love to see 20-30 women in a class. It will come soon I hope. It was a pleasure to meet all of you.
