Gary,
In all fairness, for all of Simon's work, I respectfully feel that this one should be available to all. His hard work should be seen by all,not just those with a membership.

I was asked to give my account of what transpired and my opinions, I certainly profess that there have been a great many people that have in the past and are currently working very hard to make this progression path a reality for the sport of armwrestling; I would like to thank all of them for their tireless efforts.
It was my pleasure to do what little I could to help this sport and the people in it, frankly I went searching for the truth and stumbled across something that may prove to be beneficial.

A great interview, and a fine job of investigation on Simon's part. I for one would not have guessed that that was the situation with Olympic sports -- that is, consolidation and affiliation. And interesting to consider (before the fact) that there will be down sides as well as up to having armwrestling in the Olympics.

As with most things some caution in reviewing the details and the possible outcomes of these decisions should be exercised. A great many people have worked very hard to improve and progress this sport, so it would be prudent to ensure that we think about all the aspects of this path.
It is very evident that FILA is an experienced and powerful organization that is graciously welcoming us into affiliation, however realistically no one understands this sport, its history or its potential as much as those that have lived it. I believe the WAF Executive Board and the WAF Congress will properly consider every possibility of this opportunity and will continue to significantly improve the great sport of arm wrestling the world over.
