Just thought I would share something I am doing and if any one is interested in going let me know, it's a great party every year and for a good cause!! ;D ;D
This is from the editor to put up here and will be used for the news papers as well!! ;D
Best of NH Features Arm Wrestling and a Caribbean Groove
The theme of the 2005 Best of NH Party will offer some tropical relief for Granite Staters who are fed up with an endless winter and a cold rainy spring. Two great local Reggae bands will heat up the Verizon Wireless Arena on June 23. The roots reggae of Jah Spirit and the cool
caribbean flute of Free Joseph will fill the room and keep the crowd jamming as the party unveils the winners of the 2005 New Hampshire Magazine Readers' Poll and Editor's Picks. There will be even more booths than ever serving the best food from the state's finest restaurants and specialty food companies. Everyone is excited to come out and contribute to the party, since proceeds go to benefit the work of Big Brothers Big Sisters of NH.
One special booth this year will feature national champion arm wrestler
Valerie Beach and some of her colleagues in the sport, taking on all
challengers willing to make a small donation to Big Brother Big
Sisters. Beach, who is ranked sixth in the world in her weight class,
was picked by New Hampshire Magazine as — what else — "Best Arm Wrestler."
Lots of surprises await guests this year, says Rick Broussard, editor
of New Hampshire Magazine and entertainment chair for the event. "Plus
we've got some old friends coming back to mix with the crowds." Captain
Morgan will host another "Talk Like a Pirate" contest, and there will
be the great team mascots, clowns, jugglers and fire eaters to
entertain. "Elvis" has come in years past to pose for photos and wow
the ladies, but this year, notes Broussard, "There will be five of him.
So there should be plenty of the King to go around."
To round out the island theme, the Hopkinton High School Steel Drum
Orchestra has been invited to greet the crowds as they arrive and to
bid farewell as they leave. This unique program was picked as "Best
School Music Program" by the magazine.
