I love dogs. My wife and I have two. We have an 8 year old Doberman and a four month old Whippet. The doberman we have is the best dog I'v ever had. Super smart and very protective but not offensively aggressive at all, great with our small child. Now the whippet we just got about a month ago she is a great little dog and addition to our dobie. She is surprisingly smart for her age and super fast.
I like our whippet a lot but she's no doberman. There is something special about the doberman breed. I'v had many dogs growing up but the doberman breed is one that I will always have.

Hey Jason, have you ever had weight problems with your Doberman?? I can't seem to get mine to gain weight right. She seems really undersized compared to what she was supposed to be. She is a big baby too, not really protective at all. I mean she definitely barks to let us know when someone is around but she will bark at anyone she see's out the living room window. She looks like I starve her even though I feed her 2 times a day and I have checked her and dewormed her several times but still no weight gain. I love Dobermans but I think my little girl might have somethine wrong to be so skinny. I know Dobermans are skinny but she is abnormally skinny.

Hey Johnny, my Doberman was always on the skinny side until she was about two. How old is your dog? Just make sure you give them plenty of good quality meat-based dog food and lots of oppertunities to run and build their muscles up. I think Doberman size is almost always a genetic thing. My Dobies Dad was tall and skinny with these massive muscular thighs. My dobe ended up looking very similar to him. Now that she is an older dog she is now packing on a little extra weight, but that's mostly my fault, I can't help to give her something off the grill when she's licking her lips and looking at me with these eyes that say, Please!! LOL.

She is a little over 2 years old. The thing is I feed her really well but sometimes her ribs protrude which shouldn't happen. My half pit half beagle dog on the other hand is a short muscular dog and he weighs more than her which he shouldn't weigh more than her. How much does your girl weigh?

Chihuahuas: BEST guard dogs in the world!

Has anyone ever owned or had personal experience with a Dogo Argentino, Presa Canario, or Cane Corso. I really like the Cane and the Presa from what I have studied so far.
Chihuahuas will let you know someone is there but they bark to much to be a great guard dog and lack man takedown power. I would classify them more as a watch dog than a guard dog.

Ugh.øk WATCH dog..They were bred for micing and hearing..They were to awake the attack dogs up..I'd rather know someone is OUTSIDE my house BEFORE they are inside..This way, if someone is trying to get in, they will have a nice little surprise in their face b4 getting in..... BTW..Anyone can kill a guard dog once they r INSIDE ur house...So I'd rather take my chances with them outside, with my "little friend" in my hand....

But they are good watch dogs, all the ones I been around bark at everything they see though so it tends to give the boy who cried wolf effect

This is 'Tracker', my 9-year-old male springer spaniel. I take him to work everyday....pretty much goes everywhere I go. The best dog ever.
