What are some of you guys favorite dog breeds? I have always loved having a pet, just any kind of pet, but dogs have always been my favorite. What kinda dog breeds do you guys like and why. Currently I have a pitbull/beagle mix who is just a rotten furball that is hardheaded but a very very good dog who listens pretty well to me just doesn't always do things right when I say them, I also have a Doberman who is kinda skittish trying to work that out of her but she is very very energetic and loves to play with the other dog. My peagles name is Tidus and my Dobies name is Rikku. I also have a cat named Aerogoth who is extremely sneaky.

Husky and Malamute!!!! Don't have a dog, but I love these two breeds. My neighbor's dogs waking me up every morning barking is enough to make me never want to have dogs.

i love all different kinds of dogs, and have probably had damn near every breed you can think of. but in my experiences, pit bulls have become my favorite. despite the bad press, most people who've owned them would agree, i'm sure. i spent a few years breeding them, but realized that the time and effort was far too consuming. so now i have my two troopers watching over my family and i. the dog on the left is my 6 year old female - "miss beef" , and the muscle head to her right is my right hand partner - "sav" , who just turned 5. he was also the stud for all the litters we produced. he is UKC registered "Razors Edge" bloodline. I grew up with Rotties and Chows. My late Aunt bred Rotties and showed them all over the country. That said, I got my first Pittie 6 years ago and wouldn't own anything else. He was some type of stud dog and was confiscated and when the owner had the option of getting him back, he no longer wanted him anymore because he'd been neutered and "couldn't make any more money off of him". We rescued Casanova and he's been the best dog I've ever owned. I have a 4 y/o and he has been an absolute saint. No child should be left unsupervised with a dog but if I absolutely had to do it, I wouldn't loose any sleep over leaving her with Casanova.

We also have a Stafforshire Terrier which is just a pitbull with a different name but he is spoiled rotten too. A big ole baby. All the Pits I have known are just big baby's. My favorite dog I ever had was a Chow/GSD mix. He had a head like a bear. Very big muscular dog who was very protective over us. But he was a very good dog who listened really well.

My best dogs have been mixed breeds. Smarter, healthier than the pure breeds I've had.
Best personality of any breed I've owned has been my Great Danes. They think they are human.
Best temperment by far was my Great Pyrenees. Gentle giant, just like a white, long haired version of a Mastiff when it comes to temperment. You just could not find any anger or aggression in that dog.
Most lovable was my Shih Tzu. Boy, she was dumb, though LOL. Loved her to death but she was not remotely smart. I never could completely house break her.
Most loyal was a shepherd mix. I just lost her after 13 years. My best dog ever. After her it will be a very long time before I get another dog.

I have two mutts. One is half schnauzer and half nieghborhood stray. She is a lovable smart wire hair pup
The other is a retriever mix. He would be smarter than he is but the schnauzer was jealous and always interrupted training.
My retriever is the sweaters dog ever.
When the slightest thunderstorm comes along his whole body trembles and he climbs in my lap if I'm in a chair or if I'm on bed will burrow himself beneath my body lol

Love my boxer! Never had a dog before and would not want anything but another boxer. Smart, protective of my wife and children, thinks she is a lap dog...could not ask for better (IMHO).
