Now onto just getting to be a demonstration sport.
In my opinion our executive body has made a grave error in our dealing with FILA.
If we are to get in it will be with FILA and we just told them how poor we were and
how we cannot afford to have our athletes join FILA. Well heck what incentive do they
have to make us a Olympic sport when our athletes are too poor to even join FILA.
Until we get our poop together with FILA it will never happen. I do mean NEVER

Page 5-6-7 and last page of the file explains the fee structure to sanction a FILA world,
europen etc.. champhionship....Senior worlds will cost 55,000 USD to hold....Fila takes
this fee as giving organising rights.....I still do not think this can be the only reason.
If making it to FILA is going to help us get to olympics then sponsors will pay much more..
...If beach wrestling and female wrestling can find these fees then we can too.....even if
you end up collecting portions from countries like maybe $1,000 a year from each WAF member country-
that should actually be enough for seniors, juniors and etc fees for FILA....
Leonard, pls explain if I am missing something here....
thx..

Each individual sport in the Olympics have direct control over what disciplines are added or
subtracted. So our only way into the Olympics is through Wrestling as a discipline of that
sport. Just like the 10 meter air rifle got in through the shooting sports.
Here is copied portions of the letter our President Fred Roy wrote. This letter is on the
Canadian site.
One of our leading questions related to financing and that was fee structures to belong to FILA.
After explaining how WAF raised the money to fund the different programs within WAF, it
didn’t take a mathematician to see that WAF is pretty stretched financially to be able to
take on any new fees.
Mr. Marinetti and Mr. Dusson went on to answer our questions. In regards to structure
fees Mr. Martinetti recognized our concerns of any more financial burden to us and our members.
He said his long term vision is to see all wrestling disciplines belong to one family,
under one roof, that being FILA.
FILA
FILA believes that IOC participation is not impossible but unlikely in the near
future. Mr. Dusson made note that armwrestling is very pleasing to watch on television.
Members of FILA have access to the FILA offices in Corsier which is a very impressive
place with a lot of history.
Leonard H
If as a group if we decide to forge ahead and send representation from WAF to the World
Games we must come up with a plan on how to do this. One suggestion is to send one weight
class of men and women, the top 8 –10 athletes from their respective countries. They would
armwrestle both left and right against each other. The details would be ironed out but the
matches would showcase our sport of armwrestling. If we decide to proceed, FILA would like
the details of what we would need and our format by January 2008.
As far as I know, and again why would they tell the Head Referee what is going on , no format
was given to FILA by January. To be fair I was in the hospital at the time so maybe it was done
but I doubt it.
Leonard H
I am just giving you my opinion on something in the future. When we go to FILA and ask to be
included our chances will be higher the less demanding we are on the number of classes. Every
class offered cost money. When it comes to the number of classes that we offer at the World
Championships, that is not just my opinion. FILA could care less how many classes we offer at
the Worlds as long as we don't expect that many to be used at their level.
I know you are set on the idea that if we just do this or that our chances are improved and my
opinion is, that is not the case.It comes down to what can we do for FILA and telling them that
we are too poor to have our athletes join FILA is not a smart way of getting them to add our sport. IMO
If we get 20,000 athletes to join FILA world wide at 100.00 each that means 2 million into the accounts
of FILA. You want pressure on them to let us in? Now that is pressure, if after we have the members and
then what? No representation into the Olympics then we all quit. You want in? That is how it can be done.
So what now you say? Call and email your WAF reps and get them on the right track. I can't do it by myself,
I am just the head referee, you are the athletes. Speak up.

Olmpic comiitte makes its main revenue from Media broadcasting& advertising rights- Beijing olympics were revenued at approx. 1.7 Billion dollar to IOC which a big portion of it is distributed to countries to improve olympic standards and etc...
So what I mean is IOC does not ask for money from the sport federations...They have enough monetary strength already...I seriosly think that monetary reasons are secondary- we need better lobbyist esp. in Europe- Spain and France esp. IOC executive board is mostly spanish, italian, greek and French.....
any how just some thoughts....
Leonard
See you miss what I am saying. We will never get in through the IOC. NEVER. They do not want more sports.
Now with that being said they have no and I mean no control over the individual sports that govern the
Olympic disciplines. So if swimming wants to add blind folded diving, they can. That is how the 10 meter
air rifle got in. The governing body of shooting sports wanted it in so it was.
If the governing body of wrestling want us in .......we are in. Period.
That is why all of our efforts should be aimed at FILA and getting in through them.
I just had a conversation with Cobra today about this very subject.
Simon did a ton of work and set up a crucial meeting with WAF and FILA. I have to say that it was a disaster, and our only way into the Olympics was mishandled. Now WAF has this feel good idea that if we just join this group called SportAccor". Now don't get me wrong there are some great associations that are a member of this body such as FILA that we have talked about in the past but the IOC is not adding sports and have called for less and not more.
Here is the list of members of SportAccor.
