Anybody who doesn't have "Old Five and Dimers" needs to buy it. Now. I'm not sure it's still in print, but you can probably get it on Amazon or iTunes.

John if you know this one without help, you are the man.
Another shot of southern comfort some water on the side its crazy when a man allows himself to be so taken for a ride but love is so strong it does what it wants to...

Another one...
It was a rainy Wednesday mornin' on the day that I was born In that old sharecropper's one-room country shack
They say my mammy left me the day before she had me say she hit the road and never once looked back

Sounds real familiar. Is it a hank Williams jr song? Billy Joe Shaver (on the "Old Five and Dimers" album) So, what is it??? The devil made me do it the first time.

Did not know that one, but the lyric you posted really got my attention. Just googled it and that song is AWESOME. Holy crap, now THAT'S songwriting. Just bought it on iTunes. Won't give it away since I didn't know it.

The devil made me do it the first time. Actually "Black Rose" Based upon the lyrics you posted that was my first guess. But as usual I didn't go with my first inclination.

Here is one. It's a recent song, but talk about awesome song writing.
I ride east every other Friday But if I had it my way My day would not be wasted on this drive. But I want so bad to hold you So many things I haven't told you Your mom and me couldn't get along
So i drive And I think about my life. And wonder why that I slowly die inside. And every time I turn that truck around right at the Georgia line And I count the days and miles back home to you....

The songwriting is awesome but the arrangement (that I found) could be better. In my head I hear Randy Travis or Keith Whitley singing it. Better yet, Jamey Johnson.

When I first heard him it struck me as a little too "James Taylor" sounding but I got over that in time. That guy could end up a songwriting legend if he doesn't get stupid and piss it all away. I'm talking in the league of writers like Stevie Wonder or Lionel Ritchey, Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson.

I think he is perhaps the best songwriter of my generation. I got a gift for you. Have you heard Willie Nelson's cover of cold play's, The Scientist? If not, download that for sure. Amazing.
