Mr. Cox, or whoever is now responsible for doing the rankings: I was just reading the requirements to be ranked and have a few questions. 1. These new requirements seemed to have only effected the northeast, despite all regions of the U.S. having rankings on this board. How so? 2. A requirement to be ranked is that a person must attend 3-4 tournaments during the year. Unless the two men you have listed in the rankings have attended a tournament every weekend this year, how do they meet what seems to be new requirements for 2013? 3. When did these new requirements go into effect? Surely there have been more than two individuals that are eligible to be ranked. Just wondering in case I get a wild hair up my ass and want to make a run to be the man in the northeast.

Hi Anthony. Trying to get the rankings started up in the Northeast, some of the previous ones had not been updated in years. The requirements here are for the Northeast Rankings Only. To be ranked here you must live in the Northeast Region which you do and a puller must also attend 3 to 4 of the 12 to 14 events run yearly here in Northeast. As we are just in the process of redoing these there will be some allowances to start. This is to avoid a puller winning an event and not pulling again all year, they will not stay at #1. I myself will not be doing all the classes as that is way too much for one person. Each class will be done by a puller from that class.

I respect your efforts in trying to get these rolling again. I am one who use to get fired up because I felt I wasn't being properly ranked, based off of performances, and the talking back and forth amongst competitors was entertaining to say the least.
Personally I don't attend as many tournaments as before, probably like many others... because of money. I can't justify (to myself) driving on average 6 hrs one way, plus gas, entry fees, etc..like I've done before. That's not including the loss of $350 I could make by working (If Saturday is the only day missed..).
I came up with an idea years ago and told a promoter or two about it. Similar to the triple crown. Say you have promoters who want to be part of this "points race" we'll call it. Each promoter who wants their tournament in the race throws into the "pot". Give a payout to the top three, or whatever at the end of the year after all the tournaments that are "in" have passed. Could it get more entries to each tournament? Maybe. Could it give you more accurate rankings if the best guys were competing more, instead of rankings based off those that compete the most? Just an idea I've had for awhile. Good luck sir.

Bill-- I'm trying to post some of the results to the rankings of different weight classes from my 2012 Call to Arms to help out with some placings, but it's only allowing me to post on a few different topics--if I am able to comment on all topics (weight classes), I will leave my results for who ever is in charge of that weight class.

Hi Anthony I do like your idea of a points championship, I did one years ago and awarded plaques to top 3 at end of year . I have some pictures posted. Mike Ondrovick won it one year, Kurt Howgate, Josh Stark, Norm Devio. I will talk to my Directors here in the Northeast and ask if they would be interested in kicking back some cash from their event and see what comes of it. Thanks for the input Nate as for the other classes I am still working on people to do them, so far the only interested people are Bill Caldwell for the 155 to 176 and Kurt Howgate for the 221 to 242 plus Sue Fisher for the Women. I had the other classes locked till I found someone interested in doing them

Hi Crystal I posted what i had results for in a given time. I know you pull at Simko and Chris"s tournament but they never post results. I asked Sue Fisher to do the Women's 2 light classes and she is thinking about it. Would you be interested in doing the 144-Up Womens Rankings for the Northeast

Great idea Brian. I said the same thing to a couple guys myself. Just have one, annual, Regional Championship. Have it maybe a couple months before Unified Nationals, and see about cash prizes for the top 3 in each class that covers a certain percentage of the average cost of a round trip flight to that national championship (and seeing as it will be a regional event, the average cost for guys in these states won't vary too drastically). The cash payout should entice more top guys in the region to show, and get them to represent the North East at Unified Nationals, and ideally get to world's depending on how they place. Regional rankings would then be updadted only once a year, and would be based on that tourney. National rankings should be the same, or some average of an individual's placing at the 3 national championships.

When I say "a certain percentage of the cost" I ideally mean for 1st place 90-100%, 2nd place 60-70%, and third place 30-40%.
