It's obvious to anyone in our Armwrestling community that WAL has come into the scene with aggressive, yet intelligent decisions, propelling the sport into a new dimension. I'm unsure if any league has been more influential and successful in growing the sport in recent years. Those decisions have shown to be a huge success and have had a HUGE impact on the sport. Needless to say, I'm very optimistic about where WAL is leading the sport.
Probably, one of the most important abilities(from a leadership/management standpoint) is to forecast where an organization will be in 5-8 years...not in 1-2. I, along with many others, hope to see continued success in growth.
From purely a curiosity standpoint, I think it would be great to hear from everyone on the following..(stay positive);
1. With 100 qualifiers each year, Regionals in Vegas, followed by a championship filmed by ESPN, will WAL eventually negate the need for AAA Nationals?..UAL championships? state tournaments(transforming each state tournament into a qualifier)? Random Local tournaments?
2. What will WAL's start style do to the sport? Will all other leagues follow suite? Or, will it phase out?
3. Can WAL' influence all other leagues/tournaments to follow suite, in terms of weight classes?
4. How will the sport continue to grow, and gain national respect/notoriety if there are multiple weight class requirements, start styles, etc?

Good thoughts Gabe..
***The WAL Vegas tournaments will greatly effect turnouts at other high qaulity events in the next few months thats obvious. Just timing, guys/gals will have a choice to make!
***The WAL needs to add atleast one or a couple more wt. classes especially considering the turnouts at past events, (ie Vegas 195lb class last June). 30 lb weight gaps in wt. classes is to much JMO and several other pullers have said the same thing. If the WAL continues to grow and expand the wt. classes need to be revamped.

Nobody wants that to happen. Plus any more than that makes it more complex to present on TV, and you have to keep in mind from the start that the goal of WAL is to put $$$ into armwrestling, which requires TV. If its not TV friendly, its not going to fly. Timing is a little bit of an issue with the WAL tournaments vs. others. For me its a no-brainer, I can get to Vegas for free with frequent flyer miles, they have a good deal on the hotel, and I have a damn good shot at $$$. For a lot of pullers, its a balancing act on what works best for them, their budgets/schedules/etc. I hope the WAL continues to improve and get bigger and better every step of the way. So far they seem to have a great thing going!

I would love to see the top guys like Toddzilla or Allen jump up a weight class let's see what you can do I love the idea of a fisher whooping up the 195 class or Todd beating 225 class same guys winning same class every time going to get boring for people to watch on TV just my two cents

TV viewers don't know that part yet. They have only seen 1 tournament.

Shawn, I agree it is at the present time more TV friendly. But, like I said "if" they continue to expand and grow, which my opinion the WAL will continue to do so. The UFC started with only one class look how many classes there are now. Yes 8 or so wt. classes does dilute it down, but 5 or 6 wouldn't based on the numbers of entries/talent. I'm excited on how armwrestling is blowing up, I'm booked for Vegas. Shawn good luck but I'm certain you will be in the $$$. Going to be an epic event.
