Don’t you hate it when a non-armwrestling acquaintance asks you how many people were in your weight class after they learn you won an event? Often the number doesn’t sound impressive. They probably don’t understand that most tournaments attract armwrestlers – i.e. people who are better at armwrestling than 99+% of the population. So despite the small number of entries, it could be a very tough tournament to win.
This being said, I always get a high from performing well in a large class. I believe the biggest class that I’ve won -- excluding finishing atop a field of 80 kids at a summer camp tournament when I was 12 years old –- had 23 competitors (Arm Melter 4 in 2008). Other good finishes in big classes include 2nd out of 38 at the WAL Atlantic City event last year, and 3rd out of 48 at the quintuple elimination open weight class Quebec Enduro Open in 2010.
Question for Northeast Board members: What is the biggest class you’ve ever won?

I'll say it
Second of 38 to Todd Hutchings is as good as a win.
That quintuple elimination in 2008 was awesome. I would love to compete in something like that again.

That's a REALLY good question! I'm not sure if I've even won a tourney that had double digit numbers in it or not... there was a local tourney in 2009 and one in 2010 ("open" only, no novice or am classes) that I think had 10-12 entries. I haven't won any "bigger" tourneys with more than 8-9 guys that I can think of.

The winners of the Vegas WAL that just happened should chime in. Those classes were insane

That I can remember was 18 at WAF Worlds in Poland 2013, 90k R Grandmasters class, I'm sure there are others with more, but it's been years since having classes that big in the States
