Spam. We all hate spam, unless it comes in a tin can and tastes great fried.
Please help us identify spam threads so that we can delete them. Since the board has been quiet for a while, the spammers and bots have run amok. We've been deleting the spam but there is a mountain of it. We need your help.
To do this, click on the thread or the post that you believe to be spam. At the top right of the post you will see a little gear with a drop-down arrow. Click the gear and select "report post". When the box opens, just type "spam" into the box and then hit the REPORT POST button. That's it! That puts the post into a list that allows us to delete them all with a click. While we'd all love to find the spammers and punch them in the face, unfortunately all we can do is delete posts and block the IPs. With your help we can keep the spammers and bots at bay.
Thank you all for your help!
STICK IT TO THE SPAM, MAN.

Yeah man. The spam bots are out in force. I've been deleting them one by one and it literally takes hours. I think I've gotten most of them except for the Off Topic forum which has a bunch still. If people report them, I can go to the "reported" list and mass delete them.
Kyle, thanks for reporting that one thread. I just killed it.

A Admin would need to log into the proboards account and enable captcha high level on posts. Or add pre approved posts where mods and admins can approve the actual post before going public and spamming the board.
Admin would also have to enable captcha on the registering process so they can't just create accounts with fake emails. If that has already been done and you're still having problems.......
The last resort option. The admin would need to backup/archive this whole board and upgrade to the newest version of proboards or choose another forum like phpBB or vBulletin and start fresh.
It's unfortunate to see years of posts get overtaken by bots. And with the way social media is now a forum is not very active. But i def had some good times on this forum.
Long Live Northeast Armwrestling Message Board!
