Hi Neil, My MD always tells me " If it hurts, don't do it!" In other words " Don't cause the pain in the first place!" But I know that he doesn't understand armwrestlers or sports people in general! Working in the pharmecutical industry I would recommend the following! 1. R. I. C. E. Rest, Ice, Compress & Elevate 2. tylenol 3. and a good dose of an anti-inflammatory, like Bextra or Motrin When you use #2 and # 3 in max dose and in combination you get pretty good pain relief. I've been there, so I wish you quick recovery my friend! ;D

Hi Neil, Sorry to here you have the dreaded after-contest-pain. It's been a while since I've felt that pain, obviously because I've only been doing the grip contests and not a/w. But god do I remember one time, which was a few days after training with you and I foolishly armwrestled again. If I'd had a saw at hand I may have taken my arm off!!
If it's of any help I've always found massage the best way to get my arm right again.
My a/w training right now is coming along well, and I'm looking forward to next year.
Take care, David

Sorry to laugh at your pain Neil but you made it so damn funny it was hard not to, hell you can’t be that hurt you can still type.
The worst I have ever hurt was a little event in San Diego, in a parking lot of a shopping mall out in front of a nutritional store, I was barely put back together from the previous weeks efforts, you know just enough to put my own clothes on without crying, just well enough to convince my dumb ass that I could pull. My first two matches in two separate weight classes was Kenny Hughes, I stopped him on the first hit somewhere above the pad and he elbow fouled, so we had to do it again, right then and there I knew I was in trouble, he blasted me again I had nothing for him, then they call the next class and I draw Kenny again, same result worse pain. Right after that match I walked across the parking lot to a bar and knocked back two shots of Patron, I went back several times during the course of the event for another shot of liquid pain medicine, my arm was not right for two months after that.
Get better soon Neil.

Simon, Neil, have you guys ever tried to throw a baseball the day after armwrestling practice? Holding back tears just thinking about it I went to the Big E (a fair in Springfield, Ma) the day after practice and decided to be a tough guy and do the whole speed pitch thing. OUCH!! I was doing the whole trouser in the ass thing that Neil was talking about. And I didn't even have to cough.

As a very long time baseball and softball player I knew I was done playing ball when I got back into this sport, the two just do not mix. I found out very similar to you how much they don’t mix trying to play left field in a game after an event many years ago, I was fine until I tried to gun someone out at home, I fell like a rag doll, like a sniper shot me dead off my feet.

THE WORST " POST-TOURNY-PAIN " I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERD WAS WHEN I PLAYED ON A FULL-CONTACT 8-ON-8 FLAG FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT . FELT LIKE I WAS REPEATEDLY TAKING SWINGS FROM A LOUIVILLE SLUGGER HELD BY BERRY BONDS TO MY ARM . FROM THE SHOULDER DOWN TO MY WRIST . THE PAIN WAS SO INTENCE THAT I THINK I WAS ACTUALLY IN THE PRE-STAGES OF SHOCK . COLD SWEAT , FELT LIKE I COULD PUKE , AND SHAKING . LOTS OF ADVIL , JAGERMEISTER , AND ICE , WILL CURE ALMOST ANY PAIN !! DOES SH!TTING YOUR PANTS DURING A MATCH , FALL INTO THE SAME CATAGORY ? NOT THAT I WOULD KNOW ....OR ANYTHING...........JUST ...UM ...CURIOUS !
