Sorry the thread went NA again so I could not reply on it. Thank you very much for the compliments Engin, I hope someday soon we can get on the table and I hope at that time I can at least be competitive. My match with Thomas, no excuses, the man is very strong and very good. I was cramping in my fore arm and my hand was seizing when I tried to warm up prior to my match with him, I did the best I could to rub it out. This is how I recall the match, some people on here probably have a better idea of what happened than this. We hit in a hook and I stopped him in a decent spot a bit lower than I would care to be, I started to move him just a little bit but my hand was completely cramped so the only pressure I had was from bicep curling him, looking back now I think I could have made something happen, but at the time it seemed futile and he took me down. I had to stop him from letting go of my hand after the match so I could physically peel my fingers back. Absolutely no disrespect, no excuses the man is a great puller, he pulled incredibly that day, he beat me and everyone else easily, he certainly earned his placing………………… I cannot wait to pull him again!!!!!!! ;D

Simon....Way to go dude!
Man ...I am excited for you...you have come along ways this last year...conspicuously in the 154 pound class. All these tournaments this last year have really paid off for you. Hopefully pulling on my arm helped a little in your rise to fame in this class. I know you work hard at what you want and you have proven that formula works for you time and time again.
I told Denise to give you my spot at the Arnolds this next year...but it looks like you have already earned it. I am not to sure what is going to happen in this next little while with me due to the Bacterial infection I have in my kidneys. The Doctors are running a series of tests to see how bad it is....but so far it not a pretty picture of what is going on.
I am going to my Nationals and hoping I do not have any more kidney stone problems there. Although I think I am setting myself up for "3" times lucky with this things at a tournament. I have what is called a Staghorn kidney stone that can lose small pieces at any time. Oh well, pulling well passing a kidney stone is old news to me now....so no sense getting work up about it.
Have you checked out Travis's tournament for September 18th....some good cash to be given out.... but the way your pulling right now you got me scared to come down to the States again ;D
Take care Simon...and "Congratulation"

Thanks Vern and unquestionably having you and Devin banging on my arm all year long has made a big difference in my pulling, I always learn more from losing than I do winning and believe me I have done plenty of losing over the last 4 years. I guess I would call it more a rise to infamy, than anything else, hell now more than ever I have something to prove. There were some tough pullers in that class, hell Tim Sears got kind of a raw deal, he really should have finished no lower than 4th, he was my longest hardest match of the day. This was just a good day pulling for me with favorable circumstances; again I still have a lot to prove.
I am overwhelming sorry to hear that you are still having medical problems, you are one tough man Mr. Martel, I wish you nothing but a quick and complete recovery, that and certainly no more attacks at events.
Maybe you will change your mind and come to the Arnold, it won’t be the same without you, I know better Vern you are not scared of anything.
Take care and get well. Simon

Simon, I want to tell you Bro, you pulled excellent!! As a matter of fact, I was standing by RJ when you and Bryon were pulling. RJ got excited when you stopped him. He said" Look at that, Simon stopped him in a hook!" You did what you could. I have pulled Bryon several times, and I know how much power he has. You pulled him better than anyone else did. Great job!!

Thanks Willie I did not really mean to make a topic out of this but Engin asked a question and the thread was frozen out. You are right I did what I could with him. It is always good to see you and your family, I hope your elbows heal up and I am very excited to see Boomer staying after it and pulling very well, hopefully he will take a growth spurt right past my weight class. ;D

Engin he does have a lot of back pressure, and a big side pressure hit, his hook is quite strong and most people do not want any part of it, at least amongst us mortals ;D
Bryon is a lot like me in that he does not have a super large hand so it makes it tough to hook guys like RJ that do have great hands and do not want to be hooked, of course when Bryon and I pulled we both knew we where going inside.

Thanks Chris, right now I am kind of a chubby 154, I am going to try to turn that into a pretty lean 160, that I can cut down to a ripped 154 but we will see at my age I have learned to follow my bodies lead on these things. I have always been pretty lean, but seeing RJ and Rick Soliwada cut to their respective weight classes was impressive, they looked awesome.
I do my weight program once per day 5 days a week, it was twice per day, until I started training for more power and I increased my weights and cut my reps. I have only one exercise that I do with a freeweight most everything else is static or cable.

Yes they did, they met A side round 4 I think, with Thomas the winner after an elbow foul against him on the first start. Thomas also stated that he could not hook RJ, they loaded back a ton then hit straight side pressure top for a pretty quick match.
