Can any of the UK guys tell if any tournaments have been confirmed for 2005?
There's usually something happening in January if I remember rightly..?
Thanks

Hi Jim. Yes there is a comp in Jan. It's called 'The New Year Cup'. Neil Pickup has told me that the venue has been confirmed. It is usually at the end of Jan but i'm not sure of the date. I'll try and find out for you and let you know because Neil is in Cape Town for another week. Are you gonna be over here in England?

Thanks Stephen
I competed in the novice competion at Garstang a couple of years ago. I am very new to the sport but keen to compete. Could you tell me how the weight categories usually work in the UK comps?
Thanks
BTW, I live in Stafford, England.

Excellent that you live in Garstang! The weight categories for major competitions are 65kg, 70kg, 75kg and so on till 90kg and then it goes up to 100kg and then 100kgs+ if you get what i mean. Smaller comps like the new years cup is 70kg, 80kg, 90kg and then over 90kg. Check out the BAF website www.armwrestling.co.uk or my club website www.mkarmwrestling.co.uk. See yoy at the new years cup hopefully. What weight are you?

Steve, I live in Stafford but travelled up to Garstang for the comp. I'm bang on 100kg at the moment so it looks like I'll be getting a whooping from the heavy weights. Like I said, I did the novice category first time around. I've actually done a bit of training this time around, but I'm not sure if I am ready for the guys in the open category. I'm sure losing a few matches will be a good learning experience though.... Jim

Look forward to it Paul. There's a few of us from the Horne paddock that are chomping at the bit. See you in April.
