Nobody ever talks about the 60 kg. pullers. Alot of you don't even know who Billy Franklin is!! He just turned 18, and he is a senior in high school. He won the USAA nationals, beating Jerome easily. I have been training Billy for almost 3 years and he is amazing. But, is Jerome is on top of his game, he is the best. I give Jerome my vote.

I liked seeing Billy pull, as far as I am concerned he earned it on the table against some of the best around this weight, he is the top guy in my book.

I can make that weight I am just not sure how well I would pull anymore at that weight, I am getting too old to drop that low. But who knows I might give it a run in 2005

It's gonna be me next year, just wait Willie , 145 now, 16" !!!!!!! 13.5"forearms. Fingers....getting stupid strong......just for Billy, Boomer, and then the World ;D Have you seen my delts lately?......Rick Soliwoda would be jealous of the clarity and seperation of all three heads. IT'S MINE!!!!! WAHHAHAHAHAHAA! on a serious note, Billy's a tough kid for being only 17 at nationals and whippin up on everyone. good thing we got the same size hand, cuz I know my arms are bigger! The FOURNIER STORM is coming soon Billy!. Lats are so wide it's gonna look like a bat out of hell when i hangglide down to the table next August to grip up -60kg!! my vote goes to Billy for the moment, he was in charge at unifieds this year, too bad he couldn't make it to worlds, it would've been interesting to see how he fair'd against the eastearn europeans, mabye a match with ivan portella????has anyone beat Portella in the past couple years at worlds.... ......either hand?

Portela has always lost to the two Russians from 55 to 60 Kilos, Boletaev and Gocha, Gocha is the best in the world at this weight.

Neither of those Russians were there, he also won Right last year, but again those two Russians were not in attendance. In past years they have met at the other WAF worlds or the EAF's.

Maybe they weren't there cuz they knew they couldn't lay a finger on the portella! simon, you aren't seriously going to drop down to 60kg for nationals after proving you can place top two in a higher bracket

Ivan Portela didn't win the left this year. Simon is right about the 2 russians but Ivan has been the World Champion 7 times on the right arm so you can't take anything away from him!

We will all see what happens in 2005 when the Russians (alleged to be coming in force) go to Mr. Endo's WAF World Championships in Japan.

Portela took 3. behind my friend Gokhan in 2001,then he lost to Gocha at the next europeans in 2002,then again lost to Gocha in same year, then next year in russian worlds he lost to bolataev.also Gocha lost to cindillani in last years russian nationals in 63kg class.that is true that when there s not best russians portela wins. that s for sure that the russians are afraid of none and they prove this all the time.in the europeans gocha was there but portela wasnt.he likes to go to worlds where gocha usually doesnt go.
