I received two emails from Nick, it did raise my curiosity, so I called him. Nick has big plans, here is a quick recap with his objectives. 1) Hold one GLADIATOR PRO ARM WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP in all 50 States 2) Complete this objective in 6-8 months 3) All 1st winner win 5000 plus a free ride to the finials, they'll pay down to third 4) Finals location is unknown at this point (possible Las Vegas) 5) He'll end up with one 1st winner for each state 6) The final results will be 50 armwrestlers from 50 states pulling for 100,000 plus a new Hummer 7) Entry fee is 275.00 at each of the events The finals are supposed to be televised on ESPN and Fox sport. Nick seems to be heading in the right direction (armwrestling exposure) and is very serious about these events, to complete his objective he'll have to run about two events a week.
Hello! I told him with the help of every armwrestling promoter in United State and with out pre-planed logistics, this is a huge venue to fill. Promoting an event one month before the championship and not having locations and dates, is not the optimum approach of getting the best of the best, especially with a 275.00 entry fee.
He told me, he has two people on his staff! Two events per week and only two helping out, humm! If anybody has ever put on an event, you know that you just can’t walk into a public place, throw down a table and start armwrestling “logistic is everything”.
If he pulls this off it will be the high light of armwrestling, I’m still big time skeptical of his objectives, as I told him, I can cover California and Nevada as part of the promotions. He was very pleased with the pro-active offer and said his staff would contact me. Well as of Dec 2nd no contact from his staff yet!
Nick can really use some assistance, after chatting with him he knows wrestling, but nothing about armwrestling. Please, be careful if you’re planning on attending or helping out, there’s still a lot of missing pieces to the puzzle.

Hey Engin,
Per the conversation it looks like an open class only, unless things have changed and he listened to a little free advise, I suggested a few diffrent classes.

Hey Bill
Great to see you involved and on top of this event. I also called Nick to get more clarity for myself as to if this is for real or just some kind of a proposal. It appears he is serious and this event will be in New York on January 29 2005 in conjunction with another Pro event he is involved with at that time. It is to be the first event of fifty across USA.
The competition is an open event to all competitors and all countries. He never mentioned any date of the other events at this time. Also as the weight classes are listed at the bottom of the link you posted.
For Engin;
There are three classes. (0 - 175) lbs (176 - 205) lbs and 205 Lbs and over. I assume they are right hand only. Engin, will you be ready to make the trip?
I asked several questions and Nick was willing to answer them all. He seems determined to see this through and wants the arm wrestler’s support.
According to Nick the money ($10,000 per event) is to be distributed that the arm wrestlers will pull off for the overall champion of $5000 and second place guy gets $2500 and $1500 for the third. So if you win your class the worst you can do is walk away with $1500.00 the second and third place spots in the weight classes will have another overall for less prize money.
The first place will get an airline ticket to the final event and a chance to win the $100,000 cash and a Hummer. "Yes a HUMMER"
Also if you are a finalist in the overall but do not win you can enter other events and try to compete for the overall $5000 as often as you like. So there is allot chance to make some serious money even if you do not make the final 50 or win the Hummer/100K. The overall winners will be excluded to compete in other qualifiers.
So it looks like allot of money will be handed out in prize money if everything works out.
Nick appears to see arm wrestling as an untapped market. His idea to sell professional Arm Wrestling as "sport entertainment” to the masses. If all goes well he wants to make them annual events.
Though arm wrestling has been sold as entertainment with some success in past events. Does anyone remember the Las Vegas (ESPN Pro Football) events promoted by Tony Celeste (sp). They where borderline sport entertainment. Currently Igor (Poland) with the Zloty cup seems to be doing Professional Arm Wrestling League (PAL) and the feedback was very positive. Another that comes to mind is the Golden Bear events in Moscow, Russia early to mid 90's.
Some other sports that have made big strides for there sports through "Sport Entertainment" such as Pro Boxing, Pro Wrestling, American Gladiators, Ultimate fighting Championships to name a few.
Who knows, maybe that is what arm wrestling needs is some serious financial backer/s in the United States and abroad to promote arm wrestling as viable sport that has a professional league with a variety of arm wrestlers that are very entertaining and worth seeing. Nick appears to be committed to see it through, let’s hope it all works out.
I guess time will tell.
Maybe I might make the trip to New York in the New Year. I have to admit it has got my curiosity.
Cheers
Aaron

Hey Engin I was responding to your offer as a "welcome to others at 165 lbs". I personally have been interested to go back to Sweden for quite awhile now and it has nothing to do with pulling you as revenge. Believe it or not. I have had for too many losses in arm wrestling to ever get back all those "revenge losses" ;D Also, if I go to Sweden it will not to go there to pull you in some kind of Challenge. I would go to compete, have fun, and enjoy my time there that is all. It might be fun to have some challenges there for sure but in good spirits. You are a great puller as are allot of pullers that would be there, who knows it might make for better a event. I enjoy compention as I am sure you do as well. By the way I have always given you respect to your face, and do not know why you see it differently on this board. I hope you did not misunderstand me here. Send me a post if you have concerns on this matter. Cheers Aaron

I do not have a lot of confidence in this event, but I live in New York so there is no travel expense for me and I have spent more than 275 on events where a trophy was all I could hope for. Good or bad I will give it a shot if the first one actually pays out then the rest will be stacked Christopher Myers

This reply is repeated in "NYC event in Long Island City" Hi guys (& girls) , He called me as well for the same reason, but after asking a few guys (& from the look of the replies on this posts here), I don't think too many people are willing to cough up $275 especially in advance to someone they never heard of... Alot of the guys (like Billy) have been telling me it's way too high of an entry fee, and would not enter for more than $50 bucks... Maybe Billy was right when he said... "Lets be realistic, most arm wrestlers are not millionairs, nor big gamblers"... If my calculations are right & if he is relying on entry fees to run this event, then will need a min of 36 guys to enter just to break even... So if he is relying on entry fees, I do not see this happening... like Billy said, "He needs to get his sponsors to cough up prize money & entry fee should be free, then he will get a turnout"! This guy Billy is a bloody genius... maybe he will run a big cash tournament? (for the girls too) www.GeeiGotit.com "The Internet Starting Point"
