Gladiator Official Rules of Engagement All Gladiator matches will begin with hands strapped together Base thumb grip, with knuckles exposed No fingers on thumb to start Timed grip period Shoulders parallel to start Left hand always on grip Hands will start center of table One foot always on floor Right elbow always on top of pad Fist distance between shoulder and wrist to start No contact with body or head to hand or forearm Obey official’s instructions at all times Match will begin with the command “Set-Go” A code of good sportsmanship shall always be enforced Warnings may be given prior to start of match for rule infractions; be aware that during the match fouls will be assessed Two fouls will be a loss Shoulders must never cross center of table A foul in a losing position is a loss Officials can and will stop a match if he feels you are at risk of injury. You will receive a foul and a lecture. Contact with opponent other than the grip will result in a foul Defeat your challenger by pulling his hand, fingers, or wrist to, or below (parallel pin) top of touch pad.

i think the point bill is tryimg to make is that all matches start in the straps and the hands grip low no fingers over your thumb....
so basically a good tourney for hook and strap pullers..
