A raffle is sometimes held to benefit a death or loss to a loved on in a family, or even used to raise money for someone who needs medical attention who cannot afford it. That is not always the case though. Sometimes they are held just to help a certain person or group of people raise money for a particular reason. Usually when you hold a raffle you sell tickets for a certain item, and then after a while the person who sells the tickets then puts them all in a hat, or other collection device and pull a winning ticket.

OR you can do, whats called a 50-50. Example: Lets say you sell 100 tickets ( raffles ) at $2 apiece. You now have $200, the winner of the raffle gets $100 and you keep $100.

I think that Engin may have heard that the first prize winners at the Pull at the Plaze in Vegas in April will use a raffle to determine the awards in the ten first place catagories. The rumor is that they will be awarded by raffle ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. In other words no one receives less than $1,000 and the Maximum is $5,000. The total raffle is said to be over $20,000 and plus $10,000 for the second and third place winners. Over $30,000 in cash total.
