Engin,
I agree, all with the ability to influence the Olympic committee should all be on the same page and as organized as possible. I have no clue what it will take but I do know that a lot of the sports (so called sports) that have been added don't have half the excitement as Armwrestling. The efforts of Dave and many others getting as much air time as possible on TV has to be a huge step in the right direction, Who really knows it may only boil down to a few people for what does and doesn't become an Olympic sport.
People like Travis, and many other crazy acts will bring interest to the sport.
This might sound sick but (most) people love to see mishaps, For the longest time the opening to wide world of sports was a guy on skies crashing down a hill. I loved watching that like most! Something that might catch some interest is mishaps in armwrestling, I know its sounds bad but people like to see unplanned things happening to people even if its bad. Anyone have any Armwrestling mishaps on tape, Broken arms, Slipped grip and a busted nose, things like that? Look at funny home videos, its nothing but people getting hurt.
That's the place we live in and it sounds bad to discuss but its the truth.
You never know maybe the few decision makers someday will be watching TV and see a good flick about armwrestling and decide then at there that it should be in the Olympics.

We all want the ulitmate dream to be a olympian i sometimes lie in bed thinking of my national anythem playing while iam stood there in the gold medal postion with tears of joy running down my face like when i 1st won my national title. But will this happen in my life time?i honestly dont know, theres lots of people out there trying 2 do this but sometimes are they fighting a losing battle? we are a minority sport which unless your a armwrestler no one as really heard of you, people outside the armwrestling world see it as a pub game and not a sport and dont understand the hard work and dedication we all put in to this. lets look at if a olympic offical came and saw a worlds are europeans he would probally laugh with the amount of illegal testorone pumping around the arena,we are starting to have tests but until we get this underway we are not even going to be considerd as a true sport, but then you could say the same as the 100 metres sprinters etc Montgomery for instance he sudddenly breaks the world record then nothing the guy cant even catch a cold.ha ha many of these sports have become jokes ruled by the mighty dollar.so why not let this exciting sport in to the scene? i really hope that everyone involed with our sport gets what we all want because every year when i see guys competing at the worlds etc standing there collecting medals smiling a picture tells a thousand words.

Engin,
I sure would hope the promoters are all trying to reach one common goal, but that is not for me to say. As a competitor I'd love to be part of the Olympic dream like most.
Cleve Dean once said to be careful what you wish for when it comes to the Olympics, I think he meant that it would bring even more competition and talent to the tables, more than we have now. I feel if that is the case then bring on the competition, up the level if it means bringing this sport to the public eyes like never before. If I'm getting beat by someone that just tells me I haven't trained hard or smart enough. I'm just as humble in victory as I am in defeat and respect all who deserve it. I don't care if its the first time for them at the table or if they have thirty years experience.
If I had any contacts or influence to make any difference I would, but for now I can do my part by making sure that everyone I know at home, and work all know about the recent events on ESPN and Fox. It might not be much but if we all do the same to keep the ratings as high as possible, and the networks turn a profit by airing it then you had better believe they will want more. Simple supply and demand!
Take care, Rick

Engin, I agree that if most other so-called sports are in the olympics then we should be there too. ARMWRESTLING IS ONE OF THE OLDEST SPORTS IN THE WORLD!!! Everyone, woman or man, has armwrestled at least one time in their lifes. It is on our hands to take this sport to the Olympics More Exposure! Get armwrestling to Middle schools, High Schools and Colleges.. It only takes a Table to start! I would like to see the promoters of this sport dealing with this matter as well! For the sake of the survival we need to open up roads for the upcoming generations. We just can not wait for people to find out about armwrestling by chance... Just my 2 cents...

My goals for armwrestling are to have a great time doing it and meeting the people involved with it. If you can't enjoy the pursuit of achieving a dream then why chase it?? As for the Olympics, I am 21 years old and I very much want to see armwrestling recognized by the IOC before I become an old man.
