While having my daily ritual of Cocoa Krispies this morning I began to ponder over the passed few months in which I've become interested in the sport of Arm Wrestling. While I'm not sure exactly what sparked my interest in the sport one thing is for sure; I enjoy it and intend on being more involved in the not so distant future. Enjoying the chocolate deliciousness of my breakfast I remembered a few things about my once naive outlook on Arm Wrestling.
One of the first things I remember when I was doing some researching was trying to search out the best in the world of Arm Wrestling. It didn't take very long to come across the name John Brzenk. I have to admit when I first saw some pictures of him my initial thoughts were, "Eh this guy ain't that big, how good can he possibly be?" Low and behold my doubts were soon gone as I witnessed Mr. Brzenk crush opponent after opponent. This lead to probably my first Arm Wrestling revelation; size and weight aren't everything.
Soon after I started learning about the moves and techniques of Arm-Wrestling. I had no idea how involved it actually is. This opened so many new doors and my interest only grew from there. My journey has thus far has been nothing but positive.
I wanted to mention these few things to everyone because Arm-Wrestling from an outsiders view is so much different from someone's that has only a few months of knowledge under their belt. It may not be a highly popular sport, but remembering what I thought I knew of the sport before I actually learning about it makes me see that there are so many more out there with the mindset that I had. I can only help but wonder how much popularity the sport would gain if somehow the basics could be taught to a wider audience.
I want to thank everyone on the board who has either written, replied, or called me in the short while I have been here on the forum. You guys and gals are my Michael Jordan, my Tiger Woods. Keep pulling, and watch out for me in the 135 class if I can ever make it there, lol.
