I want to share something a bit different with everyone. I am a member of the Salvation Army and I volunteer my Saturday's ringing the bell outside my local Walmart, and Sunday's after church having Kurt and Eric tear the muscles from my arms (I suck at pulling, but enjoy the sport). Now I am a shipping and receiving manager during the week, but come 1 day a week, I like to volunteer my time to something I find worthwhile. The reason I am sharing is that if anybody is wondering what to do with that extra change in your pockets, please feel free to drop it in any of the buckets this season. The Salvation Army does wonderful things for people in need. Some of you might not no this but the Salvation Army is actually a non-denominational church, reaching for those in need. They sponsor senior programs, family assistance programs as well as numerous adult rehabilitation centers in every state in the US. The Salvation Army is in 107 countries around the world - the sun never sets on this army. I have been moved to tears seeing how the children in need react when they are given a new pair of shoes, a toy, a coat etc., you get what I mean. I have witnessed many of you on this site react to many things with great passion to different subjects, so I know that this is a group of men and women who thrive on challenges and accept nothing less than perfection within themselves. Look within your hearts this season and if you can, please help. Just one accomplishment was this past year with the hurricanes, the Salvation Army was there, serving over 1.5 million meals. Giving out over 150,000 blankets and the list goes on. This only could be done with our help. I realize that this site is not here for requests for money. I only ask that you think about how proud you will be when on christmas morning, and you have just opened your presents and the children are all excited, that knowing you helped someone else. Remember children don't ask to be hungry, cold or not have anything for christmas. Take care and god bless.
