So you prefer spread to penetration ;D I always thought it was funny to hear people argue these positions, just because of how they were commonly labeled.
For those who don't know there is a very common argument regarding the effectiveness of stopping power on a human target. Displacement vs. Penetration, in the debate a hollow point round creates displacement as it spreads, causing massive tissue damage and a far greater physical hit on the body typically knocking them to the ground, and people that get shot and knocked down typically stay down, now a jacketed non hollow point round creates penetration, because it does not spread those that take the side of penetration believe the depth the projectile passes into the body, (preferably through an organ) is critical to stopping your target, because it can reach internal organs due to this debate you have people trying to get the best of both worlds, such as the +P jacketed hollow point round, an attempt to get penetration with deeper tissue displacement, I know this may sound unpleasant to some but trust me the last thing you ever want to see is someone that was trying to kill you moving after you shoot them, for far more reasons than I need to speak about.
Three reasons why I vote for displacement, they typically stay where you put them, a penetration round many times can pass through your target very quickly and end up somewhere else, also I do believe in the psychological effects of getting knocked down, I know people that have been shot with a pass through round and did not even know it. Third I believe in the value displacing tissue for stopping power due to one fact, I know a lot of people that have been shot by handguns at point blank range and survived but I do not know anyone that has been shot by a shotgun at that relative range and survived. (also as a tip, studies show the best weapon for home defense is a 12 gauge shotgun).
