Ryan, Sorry to hear about your car. Having grown up on a farm and maintained equipment all my life, I can tell you this.... change your oil on a regular basis with your new rig, when the oil light comes on you have an oil level that is way too low ( most likely causing damage to the engine from lack of lube and excess heat ) and never put oil in a hot engine...especially without a funnel... as you now know it causes fires. Good luck with your new wheels.

Do you really feel bound to view this as a divine judgement? And, even granted that it is, what is it a judgement on? I myself waited until my next scheduled service to report that my dealer hadn't fixed my oil leak. Maybe it's a lesson for me.
Many people have never heard that you need to use a funnel when adding oil -- after all, in most cases, oil can spill all over an engine without starting a fire. Your car fire could hardly be instructive for people in general.
And if this really is a message, why didn't (the putatively omniscient, omnipotent) God come up with a more inexpensive means of expressing Himself?

I think your missing the point Murray. God doesnt really care how much "money" it costs or even how much we have. He does on the other hand, care how we deal with it. Its about responsibility. Maybe Ryan wasnt being responsible with his money, maybe he couldve used the cost of the rims for Gods purpose, whatever it is.... Thats between Ryan and the Lord and so is this "lesson" that Ryan is getting. Read the book of "Job" in the Old Testamant and you will have a better understanding of why bad things, or better yet, why God allows bad things to happen to us. In my opinion, Ryan is getting off pretty easy. (He, or anybody, wasnt in the car when it happened)
Pete Milano, to answer your question, God was right there, watching the whole thing.

Amen. Job didnt do anything wrong when he went through his trials and tribulations. It was a temptation of the devil to get him to turn from his God. So on that note i want to thank anyone and everyone who wants to try to convince me that god wasnt or couldnt have been involved. Perhaps it was a test to see if i am faithful to God. Perhaps it was a temptaion to get get me to curse God Or it was God showing me that my finances are out of order when it comes to priority as Harold says. And i would agree. Or it could be Gods "divine judgment" if in the case of "idol" worship. Personally my pinoin its partly all of the above. And things just happen. Its a test is trials. It ia an oportunity for God to show himself in my life. And i am greatful for that. God knows i needed a new car anyway. It could be Gods Judgement or his provision. Either way its all gravy. I needed a new car anyway. God is all up in it. The bible says that his ways are higher than our ways and his thoughts are higher than our thoughts. We dont always understand why God does or allows things to happen. But we can know and trust that because he is the omnipotent and omnipresent God that he is there and he has it under control. Now i just got of work i need to go shower and go car shopping

I've seen the hand of God in my life as well...but I also feel that in most cases the things that happen in life are a result of the laws of nature that God has already put in place. Hot motor + oil = fire, fall off roof + hit cement = broken leg.... etc.
I sometimes think we are kidding ourselves to think that God is involved in every little thing that happens to us.....we are not all Job....he was a prophet.....we are but followers.. I think we sometimes try to make ourselves more important that we are...by believing God is involved in our lives and cares what we do on a daily basis from a non spiritual stand point. This is one of Satans tools to puff us up and have pride.I think God does care about the big picture and what decisions we make from a spiritual stand point... and many times we only see it later in life when we look back on it... but Ryan you may be right... maybe you did get prideful and spend money on rims that should have gone to something more important... only you and God know that... but maybe buying the rims was OK with God and you are spending you money in the right way and it was just a hot motor + oil = fire

I totally agree it wasnt a miraculous fire that had no origin.
Human error is the ultimate culprit
It isnt about ooooos and aaahhhss of every little detail.
HOWEVER I do believe God is involved in our every little decision in our lives.
Through the blood of Christ we are joint heirs with Christ. When we are born again we are baptized into Christ our lives are hidden WITH God IN Christ. Anything and everything especially in the belivers lives, God is always in it. Whether he is doing anything or not.
Jesus never promised us things wouldnt happen in our lives but that he would be there and never forsake us during those times.

I dont really think that God really minds what you spend your hard earned money on as ong as its honest, its great to have beleifs my wife has to beleive theres something out there,as i on the other hand open to many views on the subject i beleive in God in my own special way i dont go to church unless its a family or friend event,if i have to pray il do it anywere as the thread has already said Gods everywere i will never mock anyones beleif has i respect everyones opion but if he didnt want you to have a nice car that made you happy isnt that selfish or just going a little overboard ;D At the end of the day as long as you do your bit as a indervidual about being a good honest person theres no reason why God should have a beef with you about a motor car.(my opion) ryan see if mr bush will lend you one of hes cars there bullet bomb and fire proof

God doesnt have a problem with you having a nice car but if you hold it up as an idol then he has a problem with it.
God has has "beef" with us all simply because we are born in Sin and unless we have a savior to wash our sins away, because is nothing we can do to appease the wrath of God. Except faith in the finished work of calvary.
I think the presidents limos tires are bulletproof. Made with solid rubber. In order to flaten the tire you have shoot the tire completly off.
