That should be a training film for how not to referee. OMG

Leondard- explain to me why? I didn't pay attention when I was editing other than the crazy elbow fouls.

See that is why you are not a referee . We are expected to call elbow fouls, false starts, movement in the referee's grip and decide who moved first, intentional slips ect. All of which was not done.

That had to be one of the most frustrating set of matches I have ever witnessed! Gary, do you have a video of the whole event or just those matches? Just curious...

The big matches never came off. I remember hearing about this but never saw it.. Imagine stanaway fouling them both out with losses and not letting them pull. Then they finally get the straps in the final and calls another foul which was bull

No movement in a ref grip.... Then fouled. AND they were surprsed by it? After being told, LOUDLY mind you, that they will be fouled for it.Then the bitching really started..I Personally LOVED it..

No there was movement but by who. If you are set up in a ref grip and your opponent posts on you and makes you move when he moves, should you get the dreaded illegal "double foul"?

To me, it looked like both moved...BUT you know Patton, he could have "made " Cobra "look " like he moved, so COBRA could draw the foul...If this was so, I don't think so, then it backfired on him.

That is why I will never be a ref. Just too hard. I ref at 2 novice events each year and thats enough for me. Pro's just try and get away with too much.

Go back to the film and you will see the post movement and then Cobra move. I guess it was obvious to me but that is what I look for. I heard about this event and it was very interesting to watch from a referee's point of view. ;D

Lenoard, that is why I ask the stupid questions...so I can learn.
Elaine, what I put up is what was sent to me.

The whole event was filmed for a local cable spots channel. I believe they were from Wilmington , Delaware. Who sent in the tapes of the Patton/Cobra match? Maybe the event is out there in someones files. Helluva tournament , took over 10 hours to complete. I don't remember how many competitors , but the classes were packed and stacked.
