I'm almost 40. I can remember half a lifetime ago when Bill Maher was almost funny, although I can never remember a time when he was relevant. He was slightly entertaining when he first began doing "Politically Incorrect" but after about a year he degenerated into his current smarmy, spoiled-child, too cool for the room persona.
Honestly, even if someone likes Bill Maher- he's the last person on earth I'd listen to when it comes to religion. Any religion. He likes to play on his Jewish roots, although every time he discusses religion it is obvious he has a disgracefully poor knowledge of it. And I mean "poor for an average joe" not just poor for someone claiming to know something about it. I don't care that he's an atheist. But he shouldn't act like it was some kind of informed choice, since he knows less than zero about Judaism or Christianity. For that reason, his jokes about religion fall flat. He can't honestly expect to be taken seriously on Mormonism when he flunked lunch when it comes to religion in general.
It's even bad comedy. A comedian trying to make jokes about the quirks of Mormonism is pretty lazy. It's about as original as writing a bit about pedophiles just so you can mention the Catholic church. It's just crap humor disguised as religious / political topical comedy.

Me neither. Douche is a very appropriate word. I'd rather watch Roseanne Barr sing the National Anthem.

I already posted this in another thread, but the more I think about it I believe this thread is where it belongs because it fits the question perfectly. Who is God? Genetically engineering 'ethical' babies is a moral obligation, says Oxford professorwww.telegraph.co.uk/science/science-news/9480372/Genetically-engineering-ethical-babies-is-a-moral-obligation-says-Oxford-professor.htmlThis professor is the the very same ethics professor who two years ago stated that he believes abortion should ethically include children up to three years of age. In his estimation, a three-year-old is just as dependent on the mother as a fetus and therefore should be able to be aborted just as any fetus. And I agree. They are both murder. Anyone who believes that abortion is murder is very happy to hear a Eugenicist come out and speak the truth about their stance. There is no difference in the murder of an unborn child or one that is three years old. But, this article is not about abortion per se. It is about genetically engineering children to fit the mould of what eugenicists believe is the perfect human. Yes, that's frightening enough. The movie Gattica did a decent job of illustrating eugenics for what it is, even if the movie wasn't so good. But read deeper into the article. What this professor of ethics is saying is that the best specimens be chosen for engineering and the rest of mankind be killed off. It is clinical abortion. It is the realization of Margaret Sanger's dream. So, who is God? If man is God, then Eugenics is justified. Hitler was right. If Man is God then it is only ethical to kill the unfortunates, the disabled, or as eugenicists call undesireable humans the ueseless eaters. When you hear about "overpopulation", this is exactly where the term comes from. To effect a solution to "useless eaters" you have to find a rationale. "Overpopulation" is the term eugenicists came up with a hundred years ago. It still lingers today, and people who buy into it don't even realize where the idea came from. So, who is God?
