Yes but lets not down play strength and leverage genetics. I know people that can take a year off and still beat someone training hard for 3 straight years. Everyone has a certain potential for strength and the variety from one end to the other can be huge. Grant it with hard work a lot of people fall into a competitive range and are not far apart, but there is a high and low. If I were to put it on a scale of 1-10 the majority of people will fall between 3 to 8 on a scale of genetic ability.

two things,
1. Everybody has the potential to be great, hard work determines success
2. From a physical stand point, we all have the same number of muscle cells, its up to each individual to fully maximize the potential of those muscle cells....
so in short he all have the same amount of potential, some peak faster and more naturally, others dont, but at the end of the day your responsible for how far you will succeed not only in armwrestling, but life as well....

^^^^^^^^^ thats Funny so IF a fired up mentally smart Joe shmo lightweight does the same workout as Engin for 5 years they will be equal. So If I did what John Brzenk did Id be as good, thats good to know

no guy, i love how u try 2 twist things,
engin's workout is built to for engin to reach his maximum potential.....joe schmo may have a completley different workout, but if he reaches his maximum potential, than he just may be as good or better than engin
as for you, again what works for john may not work for you, you hae to find what works, but in your case can you honestly say that you have trained recently to reach your maximum potential....who know Guy maybe deep down inside your better than john, you just havent been committed enough to make it to that stage....

Wow so IF We can only figure it out somehow scientifically Joe scmo who is meant to be an accountant could be one of the best in the world if the right way was given to him
Sorry But genetics have more to do with it than that..
LOL , I did the absolute best I could and I'm not on that level .. I know your a positve guy, but we all cant be the best in a Physical sport
Havent committed enough to the sport or workout, thats funny
You can work out till your blue in the face , with a scientist working with you evry step of the way and you wont be in John or devon or Rons league etc..

only time will tell, but im willing to take that risk, and genetics are on my side considering my dad was a 6 foot 7 athletic monster who was drafted by the Buffalo Bills, however turned down the NFL to obtain his Masters degree in electrical Engineering.....Have fun in the Cynical world u prefer,
and Im more of realist, not an optimist,
and i mean you did win a world championship, so your best is pretty good, and dont be fooled, even given the genetic advantage, not to many ppl train as hard or harder than John, Devon, Travis, Ron, Engin, etc........
however look at a guy like simon b, average genetics, but he worked his arse off and is now threat at 176 at any meet...

No question work ethic, and how you do it is important. the rest is debatable , But a lot of circumstances point to the best having the best AW genetics.
Simon has a small hand But he may have decent natural side pressure and tendons.

or he coulda worked his arse off to develop it, Yes but i bet he was better than Joe schmo when he started . almost every champion saw potential, could beat people older than them wehn 12-13-14 etc.. was better to start.. almost every one who is the best, also has better features hands, arm length, smaller legs to make classes that are lower. better tendons , like the georgians and on and on.

I would have to agree with you Guy, after hearing about this Arsen Liliev guy, I checked out a few videos and realized he was that good at 18 years old!
Genetics are a huge factor, but with that being said...it is possible for an average armwrestler who has worked very hard to win a U.S. National title when the best don't show up. So I think it is a realistic goal for me to want to win a National title.

I beat grown men when I was 13 14 15 but I am still not on those guys level. Of course I have had a couple kinda bad injuries starting out.

I agree with Guy, genetics have a big part in how good your going to be. I had this arguement with a friend once about baseball. He thinks anyone can throw a 100mph fastball if they trained for it. Sorry, no, there are probably people that worked harder then top guys that can hit 100mph, but can still only hit low 90s.
I like to think I have pretty good armwrestling genetics. I feel i have come pretty far in the short 5 months ive been armwrestling. Plus my father was one of the Elite in the early days, in the mid 70s.

No but It was 30 year old men an that was without me doing weightlifting or anything. Im talking about some strong guys too. No Ruslan, they are just absolute freaks but normal stronger than average men.
