Harold Ryden has actually developed a strap with both velcro and buckle and it is the best strap available hands down.

I like the looks of Harold's strap. I want to get one and try it.
The velcro strap used at Denise's tournaments sucks. I equally dislike the AAA strap with the metal rings in the middle. The plain strap with a buckle is the best I have used. From the sounds of things Harold's version is the best of both worlds.

i believe the UAL has adopted the "rattle" strap. for anybody who hates a loose strap this one is awesome. We use it in practice.

AAA no longer uses the strap with the "O" ring in the middle. We had a new strap made, tried it out this weekend and it works GREAT! Still the "D" ring buckles but nothing else.

Still disagree on that one. Your strap doesn't tighten well at all. It does "IF" it's put on correctly!! Not all referees have experienced a long strap before and had some trouble remembering that you wrap the opposite direction of whatever arm you're pulling, i.e. if you're pulling right hand, you wrap to the left first. Then, the strap tightens like it's supposed to.

When Tim put the strap on it didn't loosen at all so I can kind of see what Karen is saying. I have bought straps before that loosen when they are new. If you wash them a few times they tighten and don't budge. A plus is that the metal buckle is smaller and doesn't hurt the back of your hand as much. As for the velcro strap, I would like it if it was a bit thinner. The way I pull in the straps I prefer to have my thumb in a certain spot and the velcro strap is too wide and doubled up (so it doesn't bend between the thumbs very well). Also, after a year or two, if not tightened down with every bit of velcro sealed they will come apart. I like the regulation WAF strap because I train in it and am therefore used to it. Harold's strap I was introduced to at UAL 1 and would like to have a pair myself so I can do my own review of them

Must be a buckle. Velcro is hard to tighten and pulls apart to often.
