nobody is talking about getting rid of a class, when it comes to the cut of for SUPERS this year alone we have seen, 205,209,210,215,220,230,242 .....what we are talking about is how to rank these classes and the fact is that on a national level most of the pullers are the same in both classes.....is the UAL gonna base there supers cut off on the In The Hook rankings? doubtful....is Don Underwood gonna have his top roll title re-engraved to match In the Hook rankings? more doubtful promoters use the classes THAT MOST BENEFIT THE TOURNAMENT in their eyes TK has 220 classes because he knows there is plenty of 220 guys in his area(and to cater to Karl ) Denise has 242 classes because it is more widely backed accross the nation, meaning it benefits USAA tournaments better UAL, Top Roll, NAL do whatever the hell they want because they feel it is best for the event and the NAA has F'd up classes because Pete wants Bob Brown to go into fits when the day is done everyone gets to moan and groan about the rankings but only one guy has the unenvyable task of pleasing everyone.....good luck Josh!

In my experience, it's certainly easier to rank a 242 class than a 220 class. If someone typically pulls a 220 class, he can be considered for the 242 rankings if this is the class that is ranked. However, it becomes more difficult to determine if 242 pullers should be ranked in the 220 class or the supers (if the 242 class is not ranked). Without knowing pullers' weights, it can become a guessing game.
Josh will never please everyone, but I think he's able to do the rankings as well as any other single person can.

The bottom line is the addition of a weight category will very rarely secure you a position in a national ranking. In a regional system it might have made a huge difference. Unfortunately in an elite category it makes little to none. I ppersonally have competed in most classes between 176 & 243+. The difference between placing or not never boiled down to the weight class. In fact the only class I didn't place in was the one time I cut to 176. If you are recognized at 220 you'll be recognized at 242.

Actually David, As much as you say I'm catering to Karl is OFF. I'm been either promoting or hosting tournaments for a few years now, so I've compiled what was successful and what was unsuccessful.... Over the years I dropped the 154 class due to low entry's and I have a 154 guy on my team. But right there in Ga are some of the best 220's in the nation. If you'd took a second you'd seen I ran the 242 class up until oct of 2010..... When I introduced the Soul Survivor class at 220..... I had 8 solid entry's from Ga-Ct---MD ----Canada ....Fl.....and had a 242 class that day as well. My next one in march also had 242..... Soooo my issues with the 220 is about in the Sec region has a solid GROUP of 220's..... Florida States in which Karen hosts has 220+ and seems to do well. This was to clarify your (catering comment) And yes promotors are the ones left with the trophies or medals at the end of the day that people didn't fill that class. So you have to know your area..... TK
