Charlie - You're right -- there were certainly armwrestling tournaments prior to the early '50s. In my history project I define "organized" as a tournament with a table specifically designed for armwrestling and a codified set of rules. Petaluma had both. Did others before also have both? It's possible. I think Petaluma is recognized as the birth place of the sport because of the event it became - the World Wristwrestling Championship. The American broadcasting of this event in the '70s can be directly or indirectly attributed to inspiring the development of almost all of the major organizations that evolved in the ensuing years. Had these events never been broadcasted, it's difficult to know where armwrestling would be right now. Thanks for the explanation Eric. That makes sense to me. I will check through the information about that nationals from -33 and see if I find anything about table specifications and rules.

I should have known you were relating to "Finnkampen".. Yes, I meant the history of the whole sport. Eric pretty much nailed it in his answer, what the difference is before and after 1952... if that's the case at all. Hopefully we can find out.

The difference between my questions and yours are that you were able to answer correctly on 9 out of 18 questions.. and that was after I tried to ask harder questions since you were right on almost all of our other questions. What was the alternative?? to keep ask questions you were gonna be 100% right on? Not thinking so Engin.. ;D We've been through that already. You are the most knowledgeable armwrestler in the world, of course we need to ask harder questions to even make it a game worth it's name. I adapted my questions to make it hard for you and your level, but not impossible. Your questions are just impossible for my level. That's the difference.. i am not more knowledgable than you are,i just extremed with my questions i guess sorry Charlie please keep asking your "near" impossible questions ;D

That's the difference.. i am not more knowledgable than you are,i just extremed with my questions i guess sorry Charlie please keep asking your "near" impossible questions ;D No worries. With most knowledgeable I meant having the best general overview of the international armwrestling.. and yes.. there you are the most knowledgeable. That's a fact Engin. When someone can answer correctly on 50% of the questions I wouldn't call them almost impossible. Maybe for 99% of the armwrestlers.. but I was mostly directing the questions to the most knowledgeable armwrestlers in the world.. then I can't ask questions like "Who won the open class at Zloty Tur 2004" and think it would be a challenge. I agree though that some of my questions were a little bit too hard. But I didn't only see it as questions to check other's knowledge but also as a way to spread the information. For example, I thought no one would be able to answer the question about the first Swedish nationals... and maybe not the question about Calle Wallin even though I think people SHOULD know who he is and what he have done. Beating Sharon, Ivars and Tchelidze in the same event IS basis for a world level question in my opinion. A hard question perhaps, but still a valid world level question. But I get your point and I will try to find a better balance... with the goal to give you right in about 75% of the questions..
