This is a very interesting topic, especially now that we're seeing other armwrestlers adopt this particular style. I'm with Rob Vigeant on this one in terms of his question "how does one beat this move".
Aside from forcing Todd's (using the photo example provided for reference) palm upwards, do you think a foul could be cause by pushing his arm back and forcing his elbow off the pad would work? Considering you have to defend against fouls, it seems to be this would be hard to stop in that position?
I haven't experienced this move performed on me myself (although I have felt the limp hand shoulder press which is its own set of problems and I understand why it was mentioned because its very tough to pin without injury). My question is, how much side pressure can Todd exert on Tim being below the table, thus wearing Tim out (I genuinely don't know) ? Would a strong post move help this situation possibly, thus climbing the hand (even in a strap)? It would certainly require a position change in order for Todd to win the match (which obviously happened).

Where do we begin?...
M. Todd and Crazy George. Like father and son. Maybe one day M. Todd's lock will be as good as his dads.
Ok, so anyways. I give huge props to Rob for voicing his thoughts on this. It's something we certainly should not ignore. People aren't so stupid to think it's ok, they are just kissing butt and staying on the bandwagon.
I'm sure if/when Arm Wrestling gets in the Olympics that the Olympic board or whatever will rid AW of both Crazy George and M. Todd's ugly cheap ways of robbing their opponents.
It looks to me his arm has a slight bend, but will not simply straighten pass that point. I would be surprised if M. Todd can hyper extend his right arm. How about a video???
Regardless, this is a ridiculous way to win and should not be allowed. Tim B and Pushkar were both robbed. The only reason Devon won was because he KNEW what he was doing, he KNEW he had to treat it like Crazy George. Devon isn't ever going to press or hook through M. Todd when he does that. You gotta get out on his hand and bend it back.
Arm wrestlers SHOULDN'T have to deal with that cheap crap. STAND UP and use the actual strength in your arm and if it fails you lose.
I do believe arm wrestling will make it to the Olympics and I also believe the Olymics will not put up with this very ugly and cheap way that Crazy George and M. Todd use.
Rob you are not crazy and you have nailed this right on the head. Also, I did make a comment on M. Todd using this crap move on the arm fight thread. And I got ridiculed by everyone, but I don't care. It needs to be voiced.

I would also like to add, when your opponents arm is straghtened like that it should be a loss. I mean really. The pin pad is there for u to straighten it to. If they lean back and straighten it why isn't it a LOSS!!!! It's the SAME OBJECTIVE!!!

If they lean back and straighten it why isn't it a LOSS!!!! It's the SAME OBJECTIVE!!! This is a very valid point, and would be a rule that wouldn't be too hard to implenment, if the arm goes completely strait consider it a pin and a loss, the issue here is that the two in questions arms never or rarely ever go completely strait and if they do it is momentary and the ref would have only a split second to make that decision, but again as long as there is not a rule against what they are doing :/ Having said that if we start putting in rules for the few people out there pulling this way how long will it be before we start looking at banning other styles like the flop wrist press which when done right cannot be gotten around without injury....not saying it can't ge beat but like in jerry's case once he gets there he is there and you are not pinning him without injury, and if he flops is it considered dirty to try and make his knuckles touch his wrist so he is forced to back himself off the pad? What about all these pullers who turn completely sideways shoulders in a strait line with each other and the hands in a complete armbreak position, you cannot side pressure through that without breaking the arm the best you can do is get them further accross the table in a more dangerous position and then try going sideways and hope they submit I am not a fan of any of these styles but as long as the rules don't detour them what can we do On another note there are many people out there trying to mimmick these pullers, anyone else find it interesting that they are the only ones having such high level success with it? We shouldn't keep from banning straight arms or leaning under the table because someone may think flopped wrist would be banned. Straight arms and leaning under the table need to be stopped period.
The reason why M. Todd and Crazy George style works for them is because their arms actually won't straighten all the way. M. Todd's arm I believe from video only goes to a certain point it won't actually straighten 100%. Crazy George's lock is just a lot more severe.
Just leaning on your arm because it won't actually straighten and not actually using strength is cheap and should be stopped period.

Then that is a problem because nobody except them knows to what extent their arms will straiten and a ref certainly cannot make a judgment call on the extent that a persons arm straitens.........if its strait its strait if its not what can you call, as far as leaning under the table goes most top rollers end up under the table in some fashion in long matches the difference is they are on the winning side of the table so under the table ha no barring on this conversation jmo Sent from my DROID2 using ProBoards

Have competitors straighten their arm to show it straighten during weigh-ins. Same thing as a fighter getting their gloves checked for anything in them.
