I like "go" and only "go" as the command to start the match.
Ref has full control of any/all precursors he can use as they see fit. "ready go", "don't move go", "how are you guys doing go" or just "go" - All acceptable.
Go is the only mandatory word. very simple.

Don't move go absolutely. Ready was always supposed to be a question long ago and as you said Bill it has turned into a one word blur especially many times at worlds.

I like don't move because it is a command, however it is only as good as the rules around you moving after "don't move".
At the WAF one of the countries proposed "don't move" however they had it as a foul for moving, basically the same as a refs grip.
Many athletes load on ready, tighten their grip, push their post, download, drop their ass, flex their lat, lift their arm, (changing their shoulders) move their shoulder, adjust their feet, etc. etc.
The rules after don't move have to be consistent, once don't move is said that means no moving not anything anywhere or anything in the arm, or hand, items above the table top, etc. There has to be a way to say you false started by moving beyond they simply went early otherwise don't move is no longer a command and is no better than ready.
There should be a very deliberate pause between don't move and go to ensure they did not move. If it is too quick pushing your post for example is a false start that like ready go will never get called outside of the refs grip.

I believe the WAF is the one who needs to throttle it back a bit. So long as the hands don't move from center, even in the ref's grip what difference does it make? The whole notion of stopping the match to award a warning / foul because somebody twitched their ear is throwing the baby out with the bath water.
The whole idea is the pause- to see who moves off center before GO. That's the point in my mind. Don't Move is much harder to connect with GO as one word.

The sport needs to simplify. When people start talking cameras and instant replay you know the train has gone off the rails. This is armwrestling.
Simplify, simplify, simplify.
If you really wanted to get this sport back to its roots: take the ref completely out of it as much as you can.
1. No more parallel pins. Hard to argue a pin when you hit a pad
2. WHATEVERTHEHELLYOUWANT......GO. False start = foul
3. Re-design elbow pads to eliminate all but the most blatant elbow fouls.
The more this sport gets back to ACTION the better it will be. If you are relying on refs and working the rules to win, then you need to get stronger so you can actually pin somebody.

Sometimes I think all matches should start in refs grips (with strict rules for tiny movements). Would make tourneys run a LOT faster and would be fair for everyone.

1. No more parallel pins. Hard to argue a pin when you hit a pad So a guy with a short arm will never lose because if your arm is short it doesn't reach the pad. Makes sense.

I might just start a new organization.... NPA
No Pansies Allowed
Only 1st place wins anything.
Crying about anything gets you a tube of Vagisil. The tube hangs on a string and you wear it around your neck while competing so everyone knows you are a crybaby.
If the ref has to tell you one more time to get a grip you get a tube.
If you get three of them you get kicked down to Amateurs and you have to win your way back to the Pro class.
