The ref's played a huge roll in the outcome of that game and thats too bad. the touchdown from Jackson and the holding play when Stevens was on the 1 yard line were horrible. It seemed to me that the refs were trying to make up for the calls against the steelers in the indy game. Hats off to Pittsburg though . . .

I have never seen a super bowl impacted by the ref's like that. If I was a true fan of Seattle I would be pissed. Pass interference, taking away the touchdown. Basketball players have more contact. And yes I know the rules. And the holding call after the guy beats the snap. Your right Austin, it is to bad the ref's played such a huge part in the out come.

Not to mention the touchdown by ben when he came up short. I thought he actually made it but espn looked at the replays and he didnt get in. The refs have been horrible all postseason and hopefully the nfl does something about it. The holding call was the worst. Pittsburg also got a first down on a huge pushoff from the running back and no call was made. Jacksons push off if you call it that is never called and was a bad call in a game like that.

No way! The tip of the ball DID cross the line! Also, that was a legit offensive-pass-interference call in the endzone against Seattle. You can CLEARLY see that he pushed off of the defender, because the defender was forced to step backward momentarily. You guys are grasping at straws on this one. As far as the holding call, that could have gone either way.
STEELERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Booyahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

Kurt,
Your the first Ive heard to say that. Every commentator on tv disagreed with you. Irvin said that pushoff should of never been called especialy in a game like that. that kind of contact goes on in every play.
How could the hold have gone either way? There was no holding whatsoever on that play. that was a bush league call and like I said your the first person Ive heard say that about that call.

Every commentator? I watched a lot of the post-game coverage (last night and some this morning) and it seemed to me that it was roughly a 50/50 split regarding who considered that a legit call or not (push-off call).
Either way, I have to give Seattle credit for completely shutting down the Steelers in the 1st quarter. And, it seemed to me that Seattle definately had the better offensive line all night, because Matt Hasselbeck had all day to throw.
It really came down to the few big plays by the Steelers that made the difference in the game.

Kurt, I know you love the Steelers so your eyes are filled with emotion, like mine are when I watch a Raider game. Those two calls were bogus and impacted the game. The push off was a weak call as was the holding call. The official that called the touchdown came running in with his foot where he was going to mark the ball, then raised his hands to indicate a score after the ball hit the ground before crossing the line, big Ben then pushed it across. One other play that hasn't been mentioned was Ben crossing the line of scrimmage, then getting back on the correct side and completing the pass to continue that drive. I have never seen and I've seen them all, a super bowl impacted by officials the way this game was. They impacted the outcome of the game which sucks for the fans and the players.

Kurt you are right about one thing. Pittsburg made big plays that scored. Seattle blew some big plays, dropped pass, (Stevens, ball bounced off his chest) and missed field goals. I am happy for Bettis and Cowher. The officials need to be fired!!!

Kurt funny you mention that. Colin Cowherd a pittsburg fan and radio host on espn said if your a pittsburg fan and cant admitt the officiating was horrible and played a huge role in this game. How about the hasslebeck 15 yeard penalty to set up the trick play on a tackle? wtf?
Eric Allen 3-time superbowl champ said seattle won the battle in almost every aspect of the game and got screwed by the ref's.
Cowherd also said it best when he said anyone who says otherwise is a 35 year old wearing pittsburg pajamas to bed and is lying to themselves.
Like I said congrats to Cower, Bettis, ward etc who I hugely respect but you hate to see a superbowl game decided by the officiating when these guys work that hard to get there. That game was a joke and they took away a possible great finish and any chance seattle had to win. Think of this: they won the turn over battle, total yardage, time of possesion, hasslebeck outplayed Ben, and they won the physical battle and lost by 11? Show me another game in the last 10 years where that happened. You cant.
