thats funny todd
too bad you can't access these links from liveleak.
"Ford, GM, Toyota and Honda all had electric vehicles back in the late 1990s. They were sold in California at a time when state regulations basically required car makers to do so. All of them halted production after those regulations were changed."
I got this quote from one of your articles. the video was dealing with why the BiG companies halted production on electric cars. Glad to see this is not the case.

If electric cars were viable, they would not require government subsidies or mandates to be produced.

If fossil fuels were viable, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Now if they can do Tesla's for 100K why can't GM or Ford or Toyota pull it off for under 40K right now?

Why do you say fossil fuels are not viable? They are plentiful and inexpensive.
All developing countries, including those without oil, embrace hydrocarbon energy sources over any other type including nuclear, solar, and cow flatulence.
Except Iran of course. Iran is sitting on the largest known reservoir of oil and still has need for a 'peaceful' nuclear reactor.
Electric cars are made from expensive things, chemicals, ceramic magnets, light weight composites. Thus, electric cars will always be expensive.
At 10,000 miles a year and 25 mpg, you spend less than $1,200.00 a year on fuel.
Not very much considering you have to charge it every 200 miles or so and it takes 3-12 hours to charge.

I don't own a truck, but if I do, it will be the F650 diesel. I love the front of the truck, but they have to do something about the styling in back...perhaps make it a little longer. The wheel well doesn't look realistic either. The entire bed could be lower and deeper. With a few modifications, they will have achieved trucking greatness.

Why do you say fossil fuels are not viable? They are plentiful and inexpensive. Hydrocarbons are fossil fuels. If they're so plentiful, then why are we importing so much of it. And perhaps it starts cheap (which in and of itself is all about perspective), but the refinement process is expensive, and we feel it at the pump. Computers are made of expensive things, like microchips. Once upon a time computers were thousands of dollars. Now you can buy one for a few hundred. The same thing can happen with electric cars. And at 60 mpg you save $700 a year. Own the car for, say, 10 years, and you'd save $7000 on gas alone. My car sits motionless for probably 22 hours a day, at least. I think I can handle it. My preference for a push away from fossil fuels is not so much about the environment (although it is better for the environment), but it's about having as little to do with the middle east as possible. The sooner we can gain our energy independence the better. Until then, we're going to be stuck in the middle of middle eastern conflicts.

I am not against electric cars or hybrids. I hope everyone who wants one gets one. Just like handguns and tattoos. Oil is plentiful, we import lots of oil because we are not allowed to drill for our own. Gasoline prices have risen slower than those of whiskey, college tuition and pizza. Microchips are made from sand. Electric car prices can can come down with economies of scale, but you need millions of people buying them. Millions of people do not want them. Dozens maybe, but not millions. The country needs your leadership on this. You, Gary and Ed Begley can show us the way. If your electric car gets 60 mpg, you got ripped off. There is a debate on whether the production and disposal of electric cars are better for the environment than conventional automobiles. I confess, I don't understand or trust the argument from either side.

I think once they solve the hybrid/electric vehicle horsepower problem, millions will want them. As for now I was continue to drive my V8 truck and enjoy the power, and cry at the pumps.

Nuclear submarines and ships need refueling every 12 years or so and develop hundreds of thousands of horsepower.
That's the engine I want in my car.
