Based on your physiological attributes, it would appear to me that your strongest move would be an ulnarly deviated pronating toproll with emphasis on using your bottom two fingers as a fulcrum for wrist flexion. Very difficult to hook, depending on your drive/hit vector, and equally as difficult to top without a slipout. If you did slip, it's a dangerous move in the straps if you add upwards pressure through a post. JMO of course. I have done this.... It feels real solid It takes practice to get confident and I need to get to practice.... The other problem is I like to hook..... Because I'm stubborn That bent wrist up pressure is like bill sinks....he is strap king

No, only because I was trained away from it I am gravitating towards an uncapped toproll, I get a better bite on the hand and am high enough to flop someone

That would be like asking me how would I have fared had I never lifted weights...it could go on and on. I mean chuck young thought he was something because he did concrete work for 25 years.... That's a form of training. Point is...chuck could have been a grip freak too.... But because he wasn't known specifically in AW he was automatically taken as a joke.... Like no other sports, activities or walks of life carry over to AW.
About my specific case.... What saved me.. I had naturally strong hands.... And they are long I gripped everyone low... Real low.... Around the wrist low... With my hand length I got a healthy way around.... Like a rolling thunder.... No one could apply the pressure in that grip to threaten my hand... Even though I was unaware of the importance of the hand. The way I saw it was I could pick up the inch dumbbell... I didn't think anyone could apply that kind of poundage ... Even the elites.... I don't see anyone cranking a REAL 170+ on a hand
Ironically... I took my first losses when I learned how I was supposed to pull. I developed some bad habits that minimized my hand and took some of my strengths out of the game.... These still haunt me from time to time because repetition made it comfortable... Even though my brain tells my body it's wrong.
Too bad engin or John didn't set up shop in MA back then

Plus..... I'm pretty confident if taras, arsen, Marcio at 220, kostadinov, germanus, 220 Chandler, rakers.... Walked into the local watering hole.... They'd be the biggest guys in there.... Muscle wise.... Who cares about the 350 lb biker who is a fat a$$ An in shape over 200 is big.... At least that's the consensus around the joints.... And gyms I travel

We are on the same page, but splitting hairs...
For debate and fairness sake... 175.... You will get 185 guys cutting down...guys like selearis, silvers, Brandon.... You say 185 isn't big, but an in shape 175-185 is not small either. I think Matt Hughes was a big guy.... Maybe he didn't cast a huge shadow, but he was lean and real thick. What about the sub 160 guys ?.... Guys like Corey, vazgen, devio, culpepper, shaloub, accardi , soliwada.... There at a sh!t load of them if you write it down..... They shouldn't be lumped in with a natural 187
The heavy class I agree with, but your reasons for it I don't. You say Forrest griffin chooses to cut from 235 to 205 and without coaches that's impossible.... Well, him cutting 30 lbs sounds Ludacris and is his CHOICE.... One that seems silly seeing as to how the last two HEAVYWEIGHT champs were 235..... I'm pretty sure Anderson silva doesn't cut 30 lbs to get in that class.... He does pretty well. No matter what class people can choose tocut ridiculous weight or go up.... It is what it is. The UFC examples show how a 235.... On more than one occasion can win unlimited weight class events in combat sports where weight is relevant . It's really about frame.... Figuring if everyone is sub 10% BF.... Then it's safe to say for the most part a 220 guy is taller and more muscular..... Most of the time stronger than the 180 guy.... There are freaks and exceptions, but 90% of the time this will be the case In boxing and UFC weight is very relevant .... I say they have researched it and it works. Can you imagine Tyson as a middleweight ?? If people choose not to train like an athlete and get lumped in with bigger stronger people that's their perogative.... But as this sport grows and progresses, you will see that the top guys resemble arsen, taras, Germany's, rustam... Etc. Making the most of their frame.
Remember there is a whole culture of people training mma.... The large majority we will never hear of, that will never be rich or famous, never make it to tv, that get no return other than bruises, stitches and concussions..... The majority have jobs... Struggle with bills and pay out and struggle until....IF they make big What does the ultimate fighter pay ?..... Not millions.... A decent yearly pay.... And that's one of the pinnacles of TV and that sport...... Sooo They fight the same classes that world champs fight.... Without a team of dietitians or weight loss coaches Don't base the practicality of a class because ONE guy has a team behind him and CHOOSES to cut to the extreme.

I think it depends on where you're running the tourney - and what the majority of pullers weigh in that area. For example, if I were to run 185, 220, 221+ in MN, 185's would be over half the tourney. It'd be stacked. 220's would be ok, supers wouldn't have many entries. In Florida, that might be different. In MN, if running 3 classes, 165, 198, 199+ or maybe 176, 198, 199+ would be ideal. 205 instead of 198 would work, too. See that's the mentality of people in this sport.... Cater to people because they will be 10 lbs lighter..... That is such bullish;t There needs to be a standard, one everyone plays by..... Not by who wants what and what will make guys you know happy... That make AW seem wushu washy. Make set classes and make everyone adapt. I'm sure there have been fighters that could be world champs because they are stuck in the middle of a class....that's the way it is.... Why try to customize it. How come you guys dont get if that every change you make might help one group and screw another ? In a 205 class... It cuts me out.... A 231 class is mint because it let's me get as big as I want and weigh in on the high end of the class..... But then the 205 guy who was big before now sits at the bottom... Now he cries.... It will never make people happy We should follow UFC classes.. It works for them.... Make it the standard and either get real big or real lean.... Everyone can weigh at the top end of a class if properly trained.... You know like athletes..... Like we want to be considered

Too much weight ?? He did ask for 3 classes IMO 165 and under is LIGHT... If you are too big to suck down to that class then you are probably close to 180... Which is a middle weight in my mind.... Sure you will get 210 or 215 guys sucking down... But that's the way it goes... Still a middle weight If you can't make 205.... Just like fighting .... You are a heavyweight. An in shape 220 can compete all day long in open classes....many of the best pullers ever and of today could easily win an open class and make 220
