It kind of offsets things.. Vegas is usually cheaper to fly into being a large hub of activity, Billings on the other hand, not so much. Had nationals been held Near, KC,Chicago, Minneapolis etc it would have been cheaper...
For example it was about $300 cheaper to drive to KC (2.5 hours) to Fly to Seattle, than it was to fly direct from Omaha when we went to Canada. Then we rented a car for the week and drove another 5 hours Saved around $800 between 3 of us doing it that way.
Partnering up on rooms and stuff makes it all cheaper, but no matter, Going to a WAF event in your backyard is worth the cost...

Josh, they do not have to be there for the entire time, but when travel is the largest cost incured, why not stay for the vacation and to support the rest of the team. Pullers need to be there for check in, weigh ins, the team meeting and the day/days they pull. Some go site seeing the other days they do not pull. Others stay and watch their teammates pull. Some show up, pull their classes and go home. It also depends on when you pull, you may pull 2-3 days after weigh ins depending on your class.

The Jr's did the best to date in Canada.
We have several pullers that have placed in the Top 5 at different world events that would be able to make it.
I just hate seeing people show up to Unified Nationals and place 1 or 2 and then we send a 3-5th place finisher to worlds. I understand money is always a huge obstacle. We went to Bulgaria and that was close to $4000 for two of us for the 10 days. Canada was considerably cheaper spending around $1700 for us over the 10 days (and there were still several 1-2 place finishers missing from the team)
So with it being here in the states I would hope our top finishers make it to the World event.

Cant wait. Please make sure Tommy stays heavy! Keep him out of the 220's! You'll be ok, you looked great the other night. Only a short work week away... New awards, lead crystal for the overall memorials, T-shirts, hoodies and a bag of chips!!! Take time to see the T-shirt design, adult awards plus the news release for this 25 years of giving at www.armwrestle.comCopied from the website ... St. Joseph, MO - April 10, 2010 -Tradition will abound as armwrestlers and strength athletes from around the Midwest and Europe will compete in XXV Armwrestling Championships to benefit Second Harvest Community Food Bank. This competition, which has been held in St. Joseph, Missouri for a quarter of a century promises to be one of the most fast-paced and lively of all armwrestling tournaments that are nationally sanctioned yearly. "As strength athletes, we have not only an opportunity to introduce novice armwrestlers to the sport and to challenge those armwrestlers who have been training for years, but also an obligation to assist those who have fallen upon hard times", said Mary McConnaughey, President, Heartland Armwrestling, Inc. The event will feature youth and teen divisions, plus novice classes for those who have not been in training for the sport of armwrestling. "This will provide enormous opportunity for young and young at heart to compete for the first time", stated Nick Zinna, 6 time recipient of the Erin Zinna and Christopher Moslbee Last Warrior Standing Memorial. "I will fight to retain this prize, and personally challenge anyone who believes that they can take this from me" Audience members are never disappointed in the swift hitting action that takes place. There will be ten classes for the youth and teen divided by age, and 16 divisions offered for men, women, experienced and novice armwrestlers. The adults are separated by weight classes and skill level. The very best male and female armwrestlers will be awarded the Christopher Molsbee and Erin Zinna "Last Warrior Standing" memorial award. Intense sculpted victories will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in all adult divisions.

dude has brass balls, will pull anyone! I was impressed with Doug by his ability then when i found out he was 24!!! wow! bright future ahead! Doug is probably one of the "quickest advancing" armwrestlers out there. He's come along way in a short time. I know a 19 year old that was 15 when Doug pounded on him, and wants to know if Doug can still do it...
