I would say you're more of a free doubter. It doesn't seem like you pursue truth yet you deny it. You use the word brain wash as a crutch. You claim God doesn't exist yet many of us have personally seen him through his miracles and blessings and you insult our intelligence with snide remarks. Now no hard feelings just making some observations. Is this not an accurate perception? Yes you're right, On some of that. As of my actual nature, I'm a bit of a smart@$$, some of these folks that chat on here already immune to it. I use the word brainwash a lot, not really to insult but to match the religious guys big word IGNORANT. Because it's true, I was a victim of it myself as a kid, we are trained to fear God as soon we learn how to comprehend words....(this may not apply to everyone) My grandmother read the bible to me, and preached in a very humble way. As a family we always said a blessing. As I grew older I witnessed a lot of death of people close to me. I always heard "Well God took them to a better place" this built a hate for God with me and my cousins and then I started doubting his very existence. It was then that me and my dad started having discussions. I didn't know he felt the way he did cos he Kept it to himself until he seen that I was exploring . (I was also an awful kid always in trouble, so he may have felt my only fear may have been God) I hated God most of my life and debated his existence. When my dad passed away, I went thru my worst time ever. Shorten up my story, I don't feel ignorant about thinking freely, but that seems to be a big word used for people that don't believe. I have pursued answers in many ways. Never found what I was looking for. So I'm either cursed or just simply living an a life! 90% of the religious world have been taught(brainwashed) into believing what they've been taught. And fear thinking different! Do I think religious people are dumb? No! But I think they've been MADE to think another way. TK Todd, First off I want to extend my respect to you as I'm sure it wasn't easy to wear your heart on your sleeve and pour that out for all eyes to view. So I give you props there. This is just my opinion. When all these chain of events took place maybe that wasn't the time and place for you. If you believe in God or even once did I would hate to see you miss out on a personal relationship with Christ because of Church or false teachings. As Ryan and others have said before Church is not God, and a Preacher does not define Christianity. A preacher's place is to educate and accurately teach God's word. As a believer it is your obligation to research for yourself and assure the preacher is teaching truth. God is about love not fear. I do understand how someone could determine religion to be about fear and manipulation. Why not, thats how Satan wants us to perceive it! The truth though is in order to grasp God's love you have to seek it and you will see his work in your life. If you choose to truly seek him you'll know. It seems like for you because your past experiences just staying idle for you gives you comfort. Whatever gives you fulfillment in life I pray you find and I don't judge you.

I thought you worshiped Satan and Anarchy or is that a different you? Proof that Jesus is who he says he is! Proof that Jesus Christ changes lives! Well if God (through Jesus) really changed his life, then that's good.

Here we go agin. Michael this time trying to have us whip out a science book and study evolution....Look, go find a magical book that lives in the clouds and give me proof of that. WE DONT NEED PROOF ABOUT EVOLUTION OR THE BIG BANG. Mike M does not care about how we got here, he really dont care. I think the man is trying to say god didnt bring us here. Were not disproving evolution or the big bang.....WERE TRYING TO GET A HALF A TRACE OF EVIDENCE GOD EXISTED.....TK was on the right track, wine and shrooms. I heard someone wrote alice in wonderland while tripping. Mike M if i said anyhting u dont agree with tell me....it looks like were on the same page though

Half a trace of evidence that God existed?
The whole of His creations
You and me. The earth. Everything that is seen and everything that is not seen.
That's half a trace.....
Yet you refuse to allow it in your courtroom.

Karen, Though schools attempt to teach it as fact - it is a Theory of Evolution - theory being the operative word. Bill How did anyone pass Science in school and not see proof of evolution? Thanks Bill, always a pleasure hearing from you. I did not say the "Theory of Evolution". I went to public school and they absolutely did not teach any form of religion or the theory of evolution. I said evolution! Too many people just in this thread alone state emphatically that "evolution" does not exist. That is totally incorrect. However, when defining evolution and examples are offered, quickly the response is a semantics game playing scenario "oh I mean the theory" or "oh I meant............". Now I would buy into that if these same people did not emphatically state there is no evolution over and over and over even when the conversation is not discussing the theory of how man evolved. Evolution exists. That's not something anyone with any intelligence can dispute. And based on that fact, common sense says it opens up the door for many to question if other living creatures can evolve, why couldn't man have done so as well. As long as that door is open, questions will be asked with no answers, and doubt will exist.

I know I cannot answer the question of where did GOD come from, but you cannot answer the question of where did everything else come from. I at least feel like I know where everything else came from..... GOD. I personally find it easier to believe that there is a GOD that created all things than I do to believe that all of the things that I mentioned earlier keep happening over and over and over out of coincidence. Rick, I believe you answered your question right here. None of us can definitively answer the question of Where did God come from? Is there a God? Where did the Universe come from? Etc, etc, etc You "feel like" you know that everything came from God because you "find it easier to believe there is a God". Others "feel like" they know that everything did not come from God because they "find it easier to believe there is no God". To me - it's simple, it's easy, it's right in front of all of us...................The answer is We "feel like" believing whatever we find "easier to believe". My question is why everyone can't realize that each and every person has the right to believe however they choose and one is no more right than the other? Why is it that it always - at least on this board with the same people - it's their way and no other, and their choice is to ridicule, belittle, and attempt to totally discredit any and everything they don't "believe"? Why is it that people can't seem to agree to disagree? "Why is it that people can't seem to agree to disagree?"The mother of all questions! It seems like people doesn't WANT to understand that this has always been the greatest problem for mankind, and will probably always be. (at least most people act like it) Respect and understanding for other people's beliefs and opinions... theoretically it sounds like such a right, and necessary foundation to build upon for people.. too bad most of us will never take it from theory to practice more than once here and there...

Can we go one step further here? Where did God come from? The most simple answer that one can give to that question is that God always was and he didn't come from anywhere. To ask that question would imply that God is subject to time. And then would almost be implying that time is god. Time is simply a measurement. God is immeasurable. Thus proves my point that there are no definitive answers. It is belief and only belief. And, whichever way anyone chooses to believe is their choice and their choice should be respected.

I believe we have the right to choose to respect or disrespect others beliefs. Or do you not respect my belief on the matter?

I know you didn't answer me Ryan but since your answer works on my comment as well I'll give you a response too.
Of course you have the right to choose to respect or disrespect other beliefs.. like we all do. The hard part is to keep COMMUNICATING with respect even though you don't respect their beliefs (that was what I meant with "taking it from theory to practice" in my post here above). If you can't handle that part then maybe you shouldn't communicate with that person or those persons at all...?
For example, I know you have a hard time to respect homo sexual people.. that's fine with me until you choose to COMMUNICATE it by telling them up in their face here on the board that they (or their acts) are DISGUSTING. There's where I draw the line... you can disrespect people and their beliefs (whatever it may be... there are lots of sick beliefs out there)... BUT, when you choose to communicate with them I think you should communicate with RESPECT. If you can't do that you don't have the understanding IMO..
