I have to admit, I held my nose and voted McCain.
He looked like a rich, angry old man at the debates compared to Obama. I knew he didn't have a chance. (I should say that even though he is a Rino, I respect him immensely. He's a war hero!)
But, he was one of my last choices on that side in 08.

Wasn't trying to disagree with you, or Chris, just giving my unsolicited take. Funny thing, Dennis Miller is on O'Reilly right now talking up Dr. Paul. No worries at all. You'd be surprised though. Paul is actually taking a TON of the young votes due to the failed promises of Obama. I think a lot of young people, myself included, felt that we invested a lot of time and energy into Obama and got duped. Now we're realizing that Ron Paul is the real deal. I personally haven't see anything in the debates to say that Romney is the best. I would LOVE to see Obama try and debate Ron Paul on anything because he would actually back his arguments up with facts. Also, I've seen quite a few polls that have said that the best GOP candidate that has a chance against Obama is Ron Paul. www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/politics/7382-cnn-poll-ron-paul-stands-best-chance-against-obamapoliticalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/05/05/cnn-poll-still-no-front-runner-in-the-battle-for-the-gop-nomination/Just don't give up on him and cast your vote because you don't think he has a chance. Vote for who you truly want. I switched my party affiliation to Republican because I wanted my voice to be heard and get the right candidate to beat Obama. We'll see what the Iowa straw poll and debate show tomorrow.

I'll be the first to say that Ron Paul has image problems. But in a debate, he will utterly destroy Obama. That debate will never happen if the media can derail Ron Paul- and they are trying their best.
I held my nose and voted for McCain in the election, too. I damned sure wasn't going to vote for Obama. As a conservative, my ultimate fear was Obama or Hillary in the White House. I thought at least John McCain would cause less damage. I still believe that.
And yes, John McCain is an honest to God war hero. He will always have my respect as a warrior. But as a politician, he sucks and he always has. He got elected to the Senate because his father was the CNO with powerful connections. He was not elected to the Senate because of his own merit. How in the hell he keeps getting elected is known only to the people of AZ. I guess Howdy Doody is too busy to run.
I don't agree with 25% of Ron Paul's views. But in politics it's the big ideas that matter and I think he's right on most of the stuff I care about. I think liberals feel the same way in that Paul is probably about 25% too conservative from their perspective. But there's a great big 'ol 50% in the middle (the economy and finance reform) that we can all agree on.
The time has come to stop voting for milquetoast politicians. That's where I see Romney, Pawlenty. If the Dems run a challenger to Obama that person will be uber-liberal because it is the ultra left that is most disappointed with Obama, as they should be. He was supposed to be their guy and he's basically George Bush Jr. on the economy with Jimmy Carter's military instincts.

THIS is why you all need to tell EVERYONE you know about Ron Paul because the media is obviously trying to get Romney elected: If the establishment is obviously trying to sway the public away from Ron Paul, shouldn't that be enough for EVERYONE to vote for him? Again, if you're an Independent Voter, PLEASE switch to Republican just so that you can get Paul as the GOP Candidate. It's really easy, and takes only a few minutes. There's a group on Facebook called Ron Paul's Republican Registration Bomb that has all the state's links to change your party affiliation. This really boils my blood! I agree that Paul would destroy Obama in a debate. Establishment and elitest republicans do not like him, and will try and may succeed in destroying him.

The more I check out Ron Paul, the more I like him. I been telling everyone I know to vote for him. I didn't really used to understand politics hardly at all, I still have a whole lot to learn but I don't consider myself any party affiliation really. Just to be blunt I just want someone that can do the D A M N job and actually care about our country and not have any stupid ass special interest pushing what he does. It should be very simple, but politics is so far from simple that learning calculus in one day seems easy.

I also voted for Obama. One of the biggest view differences I have from the democratic side is abortion. But I focus more on how our country is doing financially and our standing in the world along with our international relationships, and Obama didn't do S&%T. He pretty much goofed it up more. Democratic or Republican it doesn't matter. Seems like both of them just look out for themselves, by that I mean them in office. Who gets to vote to raise their own salary??? Thats bull.

The people here in the Charlotte area recently made a lot of budget cuts but guess what..... Their salary went up by 11% I think it was. Funny how we need cuts long as it doesn't affect them.
