If you visit www.armpower.net/index.php?page=topfoto you will see the picture of the week according to armpower.net. This is nice one ;D About the refereeing. As you could read in article on armpower.net and as Engin quoted in other topic, PAL started to use two cameras watching competitors' elbows. One camera per elbow. The picture from the cameras is recorded on computer's hard drive. The recording can be rewinded and watched in case of any questions.

I would like to explain some doubts that certain people have about the date of European Championships this year. The reason why the date of this years edition of Europeans was changed is that precisely on the 24 June there were parliament elections in Bulgaria. Conducting the Championships on that date was impossible, no television in Bulgaria would agree to show armwrestling while there are elections going. On the other hand the 24 June is the anniversary of Bristol Hotel in Yalta. The VENDETTA Tournament will be performed there every year on that day no matter if there are Europeans going or any other event. This is information for people who think that there is any connection between those two different events.

Igor, It didn't look like the camera's was used for the settlement of disputes but to make the original call. The referee at the table did not make one call, every call came from the side. I will say right now that I do not like this set up. The delay in making calls is just one aspect of it that is wrong.

Helo Engin,
The date of Europeans was changed because the reason I wrote before. But even if the Yalta event was at the same date as Europeans, I would fulfill my duty towards EAF. The main organizer of the VENDETTA in Ukraine was Andrey Sharkov, in coordination with PAL. Long before the change of date of Europeans it was established that Ania will go to Ukraine to supervise the Yalta event. Together with Assen we decided to organize Yalta event on that date every year. And it is not important if I will go there, or any member of my crew instead.

Hi Leonard,
The League has it's rules. It may be hard to imagine how this refereeing works and get the proper idea of it if you hadn't seen it in action. But in my opinion this is the only way to calling the right verdicts in the future.

Hi Igor, Do you have these rules posted somewhere? It isn’t so hard to imagine how this works when I have seen video of how it is working. Maybe your video has better angles and footage could you send it to me. How many people are looking at the video to make a call? Is both elbows on the same screen? How long does it take to get to the screen and see the action. Could you send me video from the elbow cameras? How do you determine where the hands are at the time of the elbow foul? If you are not watching both videos of elbows at the same time, how do you determine which comes first? If the referee at the table sees a call can he make the call or must he wait for the off table official at the computer to make the call? The TV people here want less of these stoppages not more and it did not look very professional to have the end of the match and both competitors & the referee look off to the side for a final ruling of whether the match was really over. I am very interested in your answers. If you want to do this by email direct, it is hdawards@msn.com

Igor, I just watched match #5, where is the elbow foul? If the camera is the thing for the future and you can see everything then where is the call. BOGUS

Leonard, What business is it of yours? ? PAL is the top pro organization in the world... Igor is ahead of his time and doesn't need to defend himself to an AMATEUR promoter like yourself!!!!!!!!! I will tell you from experience that reffing is the biggest problem with our sport and any steps that are taken to correct this should be comended.... The BEST

Travis, You are way out of line. Until lately you stated that Leonard was the Best Ref in the World. We all know that PAL PAYS YOU to attend tournaments so as a paid "employee" I suppose you have to defend PAL. It is no secret that the USAA nor Leonard & I, are not "Amateur" promoters. The video method may work when it is fine-tuned but it is no where near perfected yet. (Didn't you watch the tapes?) If you actually read the earlier posts you would have seen that Igor personally addressed Leonard in his post. I think that you need to MYOB.

Travis, MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!! Was I talking to you? You’re not “The BEST”, just the biggest mouth. Your opinion about PAL is just that and I consider your opinion biased. There is no way you looked at match #5 and can still say that it is an improvement. I understand why you feel that refereeing is a problem, especially when you can’t get away with cheating. When you were not getting caught, then nothing was wrong. As for calling me an AMATEUR promoter well…….. your childish name calling will not get me to do the same. I know how much prize money we give out and anyone with a lick of sense would also know that. Leonard

WoW Personally, I think Leonard and Denise do a great job and also have the right to their opinions. Igor I think does a great job too but let's not forget there is less sports too contend with outside the USA so the draw would be bigger.
Also of course who asked me right !! Have a great day

If that is the case then by all means keep your airplane money and stay home. ;D So you think that I am biased? Then by all means let’s hear about it, when and where? By the way no denials about your employment by PAL. Igor cannot do the Arnold nor will he and the only thing embarrassing armwrestling is you and your antics.

Hi Igor,
I'm curious about the placement of the cameras. How are they set up as far as the angle? Are they where the downside referee would usually be? How does a competitor's non-competing arm interfere with the footage? Are elbow fouls the only use of the cameras or are they used for other calls as well?
Thanks

Can anyone tell me what was wrong with #5? Looks like John just lost trying something different.
PAL...Professional Armwrestling League
Didn't know Travis was an employee of PAL, being that he competed there only once... Does this make John or Mike Selearis an employee?
Now if Travis is employeed by PAL, GREAT for him. What a GREAT concept, an ARMWRESTLER actually making REAL money besides MAYBE promoters from the very sport he competes in.
BTW: Just my opinion, and we know what that means, Leonard and Denise do put on the best money meets .
I will say it till I die... YOU PEOPLE CREATED THE MONSTER NOW DEAL WITH IT!!!!!! TRAVIS is who he is and was " CREATED" by the cameras and the promoters who "thought" his "antics" WERE "cute".. I guess there not "cute" anymore, when it applies to others.
I hate to say it...LOL..: But you can like it or not but because of him and his antics, he has helped pushed this sport further then anyone else has.......
