I believe that the WAFs are the only World Champions. BECAUSE, athletes from each Country have usually either won their National or placed 2nd compete. These are the BEST from that year.
To me, Petaluma is a GREAT tournament, but over the years, with the inception of Armwrestling and their Worlds, it has been less of a World Title. Because Countries do not send their athletes over. They come on their own and don't have to qualify, and the armwrestlers are mainly from the U.S.
THANK GOD FOR ONE WORLD NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!

i agree with christian if you are good enough to place first or second in you country and go to worlds and place first than you are the WORLD CHAMPION.... even if people say that another may beat you thats fine but at those two tournaments (the nats and worlds) that person either was not there or was not good enough that day to beat you....

Mike, when it gets to be in the olympics you will be over 50 and i will be over 40.so we wont have much of chance to win open classes.i have hopes to win an olympic gold medal if it gets in year 2012:).i will be 38.
Jonas,we all can make the things possible that seem impossible to us if we really believe.if you are training with Andreas then the things are more possible to reach for you in armwrestling.what is your weight now,and what class are you planning to pull next year?

Engin atm im training hard and taking kreatin as a suplement so my weight is about 83 kg atm, just starting to be able to take Andreas wrist at practis again but not with a start (only beat that bastard once in a tournament years ago ) My wrist and hand are coming back fast enough but im having bigger problems with my starts and to be as fast as before, but im thinking that will come back with more training. When i quit i just lost to Tsakhilov, so he will be my no1 goal.. And i know from talking to Cvetan he deals with Tsakhilov with no problems so i have to go for him first before i try go for the really big guys like u cvetan and babayev

Jonas, you are the guy that did final match against tscahilov in 2001 worlds!!!
tell me who put tscahkilov into the loers bracket??i guess he had to beat you twice in the final.i was worried about you when i went to springfield worlds a year after you took 2. in poland.you seemed very fast guy to me by watching your tape.i can understand why you are worried about your start, because it seems like your best weapon.tscakilov s 85kg now.

believe me that tscakilov is as dangerous as the names that you listed above!he beat babaev last year, and cvetan always had a great dog fight before pin him.

I was following Tsakhilov during the whole tournament since he looked very fast and strong i have pulled both pisarkov and grusnikov before so i knew some about them (lost to the both before). However Tsakhilov fouled out from the A-side so i dident have to face him until the final. He was mega strong inside i got as far as half way to the pin and then he stoped me, wasent much i could do when he got me inside his hook..
After my silver medal i kind of got the i am great and dont have to train syndrom.. But i took a few years off and went to zloty this year to get my ass kicked and now im back training harder then i did starting out with armwrestling in 1999..
With the speed i thing it was cuz i had alot of confidens in my hand weighing 70kg where i felt dominent with my big hand. If i train as hard as i do now for a year or two i might get back that feeling but im not sure..

Well for next year im 100% sure i wont pull the worlds cuz of low income now that we got a baby in the family. But for next year i will pull our nationals, golden arm, nordic championships and zloty. I wanna pull 78kg at zloty so ill stay around where i am now in weight. But if i go to europeans or worlds in 2006 i will pull 75kg all depending on how i feel and what class andreas will pull, we are also talking about GNC 2006 if the event is still on

I lost to Chad Silvers and Bondaruk, I lost my wrist something that ive never used to do but when im looking at the matches i see some good signs cuz even tho i lose my wrist so do they not much but alittle and that gives me the motivation to start up again cuz i know they are good pullers and i could move there wrist without training for 3 years.. I dont think u have to worry about me charlie tells me u will take my wrist if we meet, ever if i go back to my old self

Theres only one way to be a world champion and thats to compete at a world championships and win. this to me is WAF the event that is held all over the world every year the one that is reconized by every puller not some made up bull were only that country who runs the event enters. Engin to me you have been 10 times waf champion and this is a Mega acheivment. everybody in the world knows when the worlds are held so if they dont go thats tough crap it doesnt matter if that person kicked ur ass all year if there not there and you are and u win ur the champion, and for the zloty ok this was probally the toughest small event of the year but it was also named roidville. it really doesnt matter if Taras etc dont go to a worlds surely if they are the best they will compete in the best comp in the world. so to all you WAF winners cngraulations and i hope 1 day i can join u in this list of CHAMPIONS
