www.adequacy.org/public/stories/2001.8.1.165438.1158.html Check this out its very informative and educational Its just a game like a movie is just a movie. WRONG! Its a cult. nothing short of it. Here is a qoute from a woman who found her child hanged in his room "Dungeons is a cult, plain and simple. The definition of "cult", which Dungeons fits to the tee, is: A religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader. Let's take this one piece by piece: Religion Religions are systems of belief that consume one's entire intellectual outlook, a characteristic Dungeons typifies. But whereas mainstream religions are a healthful addition to the plurality of human experiences and diversity of viewpoints that makes this country strong, Dungeons is a scourge of the lowest sort. Dungeons provides its adherents with no positive moral direction whatsoever. Whereas the religious are taught to love their neighbors, Dungeons adherents are encouraged to despise them as detractions from the task at hand: perpetuating the Dungeons movement and its subversive goals. Extremist and unconventional Dungeons adherents are renowned for their iconoclastic lifestyles. The very fact alone that they would rather spend their time sitting around a table massaging integers instead of breathing the fresh air of our fair planet is enough to prove my point. Authoritarian Authoritarian regimes all share the common fact of strict rules directing their subjects' lives in the minutest detail. When I cracked open those Dungeons tomes, what did I find? Heaps and heaps of rules governing how adherents are supposed to go about even basic tasks like purchasing goods and speaking to non-adherents (when allowed). But instead of teaching Billy some skills he could put to good use in the outside world, Dungeons forced him to trust his fate to the rolling of those cursed dice, as though those dice could help him if he ever found himself drowning off a real-life icy floe or languishing at the bottom of a dark pit where he'd accidentally fallen while practicing unsafe and irresponsible exploration. This is what it means to be false. Charismatic leader Like all cults, Dungeons has its charismatic leader, a bald moustached man named Peter D Adkison. Read his biography, as it's the first step all Dungeons adherents must undertake when joining the cult. In fact, one of the easiest ways to spot an adherent to Dungeons is to mention Adkinson's name and watch the listener's eyes for that flash of recognition, as every Dungeons adherent knows his name and his vision well, though they largely fail to comprehend its parallel to Scientology as a sinister money-driven enterprise. cultlink.com/sentinel/d&d.htmI found a better more professional link To answer your question "Is D&D Morally Acceptable" Socially it is acceptable becuase of a disease i just discoverd call SPT "Stupid People Theology".( I just made that up is it as funny to you as it is me? ;D) Its just as socially acceptable as a passionate gay movie Its just a game its just a movie. that whole line of crap. No it is not morally acceptable 2 Corinthians 10:5. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; Things we pretend or imagin in our hearts are just as much sin as if we had already commited it. As jesus said in Matthew 5:27. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 28. But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. The link at the top of this post was written by a man who was into it and identified the dangers of it. and explains what its all about.

I have read all of these links above and I and I can save you some time...
doing anything to the extreme can have negative effects
I played D&D a couple times as a kid and no one was talking about a cult.
Let me guess...when I stayed up nights on end in the 8th grade to try and beat all the levels of Super Mario Bros. and Legend of Zelda...I was in a cult too?
The Nintendo Cult...? It comes down to your parents supervising what the children are doing.
The kid who killed himself had more problems in his life then a role playing game. The parent is searching for an answer and that is the easy way out....blaming the game.
Just my two thoughts

I dont know i dont think so. Boys name was billy.
Gary, If you read the two links you read the the christian website mentioned that there are some people who are in it for the pure fun. and there are some people that get caught in the escapism of it.
As far as the fun of it Jesus said whosoever LOOKS upon a woman with lust in their heart has commited adultery. As fun as it is its sin. Am i saying the innocent ones playing the game are in sin??? not my call im not god. The christian website said he had to quit playing the game becuase he was convicted by the spirit of God.
I do believe it is a cult and people ought to stay away from it.
I stayed up all night playing zelda to ;D
I think Zelda was the best game nintindo ever made. Until they started making him sissyfied and girly for the game cube. I dont think its a nintindo cult. but i for one have been convicted on those types of games with sorcery and all that kinda stuff. play what you want but ask god if it grieves his spirit.
HALO ;D is an awesome game you dont kill innocent people and you dont involve yourself in sorcery and you get to blow stuff up ;D What is a problem i dont know if it is demonic or chemical im sure it has a touch of both, but when you cant pull away from and your not productive in life what soever. that has nothing to do with the game but the person.
