AMEN!
Did you know the united states wouldnt accept Utah as a state unless they did away polygamy?
Then the mormons changed there religion (to the public eye) they still practice it but not publicly or legally becuase they will go to jail. In Utah there are over 30,000 Polygamist. and 3/4 of the population accepts joseph smith as a prophet of God.
If im not mistaken in order for one to enter into "godhood" he is required to practice polygamy. and his wife cant argue the idea becuase it is her husband that is supposed to raise her from the dead, so she dont wanna make him angry.
This is an excellent way to enforce good family values. To me i would assume this would leave the woman pretty stressed out and depressed.
Did you know Utah leads the nation in suicide of married women?

www.helpingmormons.org/occult_symbols.htmThis is a link to a website that shows you all the occultic symbols all over the mormon temples. Including inverted pentagrams which are symbolic in witchcraft and satanism.

Cults work in secret circles, Mormons don't for the most part. Think of any cult you have ever heard of and they share one common trait, secrecy.
We should talk about Scientology, if you want to know about a cult, oh what I've read about that "religion".

The difference between a "CULT" and an "OCCULT is a very thin and vage line. Mormons practice sercrecy through secret rituals. Death Oaths and other practices. this classifes them as an "OCCULT" along with witchcraft and satanism.
A "CULT" is a religous group with strange or wierd practices that deviate or counterfiet the the word of God. Such as David Koresh, Jim Jones and other things.
Both a CULT and an OCCULT can misuse the bible in its practices.
What makes me so angry about the mormons is that they come to christians not the lost and they present "ANOTHER TESTAMENT OF JESUS CHRIST".
This is an obvous attempt to lure christians away from the bible. and correct doctrine. One time i was walking down the road with some friends of mine that obvously needed Jesus and mormons walked right by looking for christian homes. THey have no Gospel to change peoples lives with they only have lies to deviate from the truth of the word of God. They come publicly in the name of Jesus Christ and even with family values but it isnt the same Jesus as in the bible. When you read into it it is all centered on Jospeh Smith and his erroneous and digusting writings. Honeslty it makes me sick.
But if you wish to talk about scientology we may.

Olin he never came out on this board to discuss religion, so not really my place to name him, but he is one smart well rounded guy, he only left this board because he was going abroad to pursue his beliefs. I know a lot about the Mormon religion and my conversations with him at the Worlds were very educational.

he went on his missionary trip.
no disrespect to him but the mormon church believes you must complete a two year mission trip of door to door ministry or you cannot become a god.

Ok John Madden is sitting in Oakland watching a Raiders game and they are getting crushed! Madden notices a payphone on the side lines and at half time the quarterback for the Raiders goes over and puts 6 dollars in it to make a phone call. Upon hanging the phone up he announces that he just called God and received the correct plays for the second half. The Raiders go on to win the game easily!
The following Monday night Madden is in Seattle and once again the Seahawks are losing and there is the same pay phone! At half time the quarterback goes to it and deposits $8.50 to make the call. He also hangs the phone up and gleefully announces he has the plays from God to win and with perfect precision they come back to win the game!!
7 days later Madden is in New England and the Pats are losing. At half time Tom Brady goes to the pay phone and puts a quarter in to call God and get the plays to win. John M asks why it was so cheap for Tom to get the correct plays and Brady Replies "Here in New England Bill Belichick is a local call!"
GO PATS!!!!

Simon.
You are right.
Well informed Mormon's who understand the gospel DO NOT believe that people who are not Mormon are going directly to hell.
Just like well informed Christian's DO NOT believe that people of others faiths, who live good lives are going directly to hell.
In fact, we as humans are not the judge, a higher power is.
As in any religious group you get those who strive to live and undertand the teaching of the group they belong to in it's fullest and you also get those that want to pick and choose which beliefs fit with what they want to do in their everyday life and don't want to change or comform to the teachings of the church they belong to.
For example: The scriptures teach that contention is of the devil, yet you will find people of all faiths that feel it is their right to argue points of religion or point out why they think others are wrong.
I for one hardly talk about religion unless someone asks me with true interest, like you did in South Africa. I feel Jesus lead others with love and an invitation.
I like a postive approach and appreciate your willingness to be that kind of person. You are not Mormon yet you were willing to stand up for one who is and correct an incorrect statement.

I checked out the anti mormon web site. All I can say is wow! Guess I will follow my Dad's advice (who by the way was not religious). If you want to find out about something, go to someone who is an expert in that field, or at least knows what they are talking about. Never go to someone who will tell you all the bad things they believe about someone or something else. I am more willing to listen to a positive, educated person, than a negative, educated one. I think most of us know the pagan origin of Easter and eggs, but are we all going to hell because we participated in an easter egg hunt.

Ryan,
I can tell you that this is not true.
"no disrespect to him but the mormon church believes you must complete a two year mission trip of door to door ministry or you cannot become a god. "
I've never seen it in any church publication or said by any church leader.
What is your source?
I do however highly respect anyone of any faith who is willing to take two years of their life and serve others at their own expense. I wish there were more of us, of all faiths that did this kind of thing. The world would be a better place with more love and compassion.
