Non-Scriptual answers: 1.Unless he left us a copy of his origin we wouldn't be able to figure this out Todd. Thats like if you didn't tell me where you came from an such an I didn't try to talk to you I wouldn't know who you was. A.would you try to worship me without knowing me? 2.In different areas some people believe in more than one God but in every religion there is always a supreme being that resides above the rest. ALWAYS unlesss you have more info than I do???A...there is some religions that have multi-gods??which one is accurate eh? 3. Actually that could be open to debate it's a matter of opinion. I don't think it is cause it's just a bunch of nerds that have different ways of looking at things but they are entitled to that. 4.Doesn't everyone have an arch nemesis??? I am yours lol jk maybe Harry Kern??? So if their is a God then there would be a Satan. There can't be good an no evil. There has to be evil in order for people to do good things. A...Harry is the good side..i'm the bad....lol 5.Well ummm can't a woman be a virgin these days an have a baby?? YES. Artificial insemination. Although I think it's playing God. If there is a God then he could have implanted a baby in Mary. A... prove it!! back then they didn't know hot dogs & tacos ...something one way or the other is inserted my friend.... 6. Well unless you believe the bible then you can't answer this one an without the bible you wouldn't have ask this question. You have heard an at least learned a little about the bible Todd or you would not have ask this question......A i have read the bible many times with my grandma when i was young...pretty good book sex, violence, and special effects....they should make a movie...wait they already have. 7. That was just a movie. An No. just checking... Johnny Ezell Edwards II member at Alexis Baptist Church but is a little independent in his studies. I believe Jesus died on the cross for my sins an rose again on the 3rd day so that I may have everlasting life. Now I have a few questions of my own Todd. 1. Why do we have a higher conciousness than an animal we can distinquish right from wrong an don't say an animal CAN. Johnny a monkey can fly a shuttle to mars....and a pig won't eat pork...i know i've tried..... We know that a 30 year old man raping a 4 year old child is wrong an discusting an animal doesn't. Also why can we contemplate higher thinking than an animal??? how do you know what an animal is thinking?...are you dr Doolittle? Why do we even have feelings??? Why do these feelings an Morals we have affect our actions? What gave us these feelings and sense of morals??? i don't know myself..this is where i say i don't have proof either Why can I see colors??? it's the MEDS your on. Really just because a scientist talks about the impulses that the eyes send to the brain make us see colors does that really make him true cause I have never observed this just read it like I have the bible. I choose to believe that but I don't have to seeing as to how he can't show us that this is true even though they say it's fact. I wanna see it with my own two eyes. I do however choose to believe that The bible is true an what I read in it is true. this is your beleif....now read another book and we'll see if you beleive everything you read? don't cha love it TK

Todd King,
Factual proof of supernatural stuff isn't that hard to come by. There are thousands of documented miracles where unbiased professionals, some atheist, participated in cases where appeals were made to Saints to pray for individuals inflicted with terminal illnesses.
To make a long story short, rooms get full of documentation for each case. Many canon lawyers review the files and determine if, beyond ANY doubt, a miracle has occurred. These lawyers take an antagonistic approach and want every detail hammered out.
OK....enough of that....it's not likely that you will take the time, nor will you believe yet. It is not your time. God does have a plan for you though. The deeper you learn to love, the closer you'll be to God. It's only a matter of time.
Here's my personal testimony Todd. See what you think:
Between the ages of 18 and 25, I only went to church when I felt like it. Now remember, you were raised by a caring person who was atheist. I was raised by 2 devout Christians. Because of the gift of my being raised in the faith, more was expected of me in terms of using those gifts. I AM NOT saying that I ever was a better person than you, or am I now. We have equal dignity as humans, period.
All my life, from birth to 17, I had peace in my soul and confidence in who I was...never suffered emotionally unless I hurt someone. The remedy to hurting someone, as you know, is to do the best you can to undo the wrong. So far, so good. Now I turn 18 and only go to church when I feel like it. For me, that is a serious sin. Over the next 7 years, I got to taste the nasties: depression, emptiness, lack of confidence, anxiety of all sorts, lack of purpose. During those 7 years, I gave my parents money to give to the church because I believed that every one else needed it, but not me. I thought I was already good enough( looking back, I see how sad I had become).
My mother starts with lung cancer at 50(never smoked) She dies of liver cancer at 54, with several different kinds of cancers in between. When the ambulance came to pick her up for the last time, she asked me 2 things. 1. To never forget her. 2. That I must go to confession. We get to the hospital and her doctor tells us to stay....she will die soon. My father and sister stayed all night. My brother and I left at 3 ish in the morning. She was still alive. We went back early...still hanging in there. At 10:00 a local church had Saturday morning confessions, and I went. While I was in line, my brother came to get me. She died.
Since that day, I have not missed a Sunday mass or holy day of obligation. My life has been full of unimaginable grace...no depression, no lack of self confidence, no anxiety, just the peace of Christ!!! And the price? Just the simple obedience of my holy mother. My soul knew I had to. I "knew" I couldn't live with myself if I disobeyed my mother's last wish. Quite a reward for a simple act of obedience, huh?
Here's a good reference book for those so inclined: Peace of Soul by Fulton Sheen. This is a hard core book for those well versed in psychoanalysis and the different schools of psychology.
Muslims, Jews, Atheists, Agnostics, Christians(Catholics and the 25,000 or so denominations or "non denominations" of Protestants) all have equal dignity in the eyes God. Every person is on an individual faith journey. The interest that Todd King shows in the subject as well as the people well versed in Christianity points to this. Everyone, at some point or another asks, "Why do I exist?" Just the fact that there exists 25,000 plus Protestant denominations points to the diverse faith experiences that people have.
OH!!!!!!!!!! and Todd, you signed off using the word "love." Very powerful!!!!! According to Saint John, the apostle, in his 1st letter, chapter 4, love is of God, and God is love. "IS" love. That is the best clue in all of scripture as to who our mysterious God is....the summation of all scripture.
May the grace of our lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you and your loved ones!!!!!!

Todd,
Loving your family so much that you would die for them IS the God thing. That is exactly what Jesus commanded us to do. Just going to church on Sundays without that love you spoke of is worthless. The only thing I would add, is that in the growth of a person, that love has to extend to the whole human family....that's a tough challenge for anyone. You are a lot closer to God than you think on account of your virtue.
A lot of scripture wants to pour out of me right now, but I will resist the temptation for now, for that is your wish. However, in the future, and I mean over many years of life experience, what I think you'll find, if you take an intellectually curious approach to scripture, is a world of wisdom that really does apply to YOUR life. Read the wisdom books just for fun. You won't regret it. It won't make you a bible thumper, because that is not likely your personal path, so to speak. But it will show you how similar our problems are to the ancient's. Pretty neat stuff, IMO.

I have had some close calls in my tour of Iraq. Too close for comfort, too many times. If I was just over there instead of over here, just walked a little faster, was in that team, was on that post instead of this one ect......... I may have not been here writing my 2 cents in this "debate" Some may call it luck. I see it as someone was watching over my a$$ and I'm gratefull. God or no God I owe a higher power my gratitude, and someday when I leave this earth I hope I have the chance to give that gratitude. There's got to be more than this. I hope anyway.

Your welcome, and I've never heard that before but you got that right. Even if you were a non believer, when the "sh*t hits the fan" it wouldn't take you too long to change your mind. That I would put money on!!

Hey Bob, another old saying " there are no atheist in hell", because they are all believers now Todd, I could sit and tell you of several miracles that I have personally received and witnessed, but you probably wouldn't believe them, and there is a scripture about that also, but I won't bother you with it.

questions religious folks can't answer without quoting the Bible 1. what is God's origin? 2. is there more than one god? 3. is scientology a real religion? 4. is there really a Satan? 5. did Mary really have a baby without some "thing" happening? (nothing nasty notice) 6. is there really any evidence that Jesus walked on water? 7. did Bruce almighty really take over God's duties?? seeing if you're really reading!! TK Let me take a crack at it..... 1. what is God's origin? There is no origin....i discussed this in my "where did God come from post" People ask me that question all the time. Where did God come from? There arguement is generaly, "if everything that is created has a creation then who or what created God?" The answer to that is that God was not "created" he always was. John 1:1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Word beginning in the greek is arche (ar-khay) Which actually means before the begining or before creation. He is the creator of creation. He was before the creation. He declares that his name is I AM. and that he is, was and always will be. Think about this.....God Knows who he is. He has never had to question who he is. hes never doubted who he is. He has never looked his name up in the book of names to see were it came from and what it meant If your God and you dont know that your God, Then your not God. If your God and you doubt that you are God that then would disqualify you from being God. If God was created buy someone else wouldnt that then disqualify God from being God? and the creator of God would be the one we would worship. And he would be God and then you have to ask the question all over again of where did that god come from if the other god was created by another god and yada yada yada. and that propulsion would conlude there is no god. But, becuase God is Holy and there is none like him he is incomparable in everyway. There can not be another god to create him. he would then not be incomparable. God is unique in that he is set apart from everything else. in a class of his own you can't describe God like you can a rabbit "small" "furry" "mamal" 'long ears". You cant do that with God becuase he is in a class of his own there in none like him. Some might say you look at man and there are characteristics of god in man , and there are, but the problem with that is that you dont define God, God defines you. Where did God come from? He always was, is and always will be. He created the creation. He is God and he knows it. Food for thought Ryan Thames This was something i posted several months ago. In it is nothing offensive to anyone of any religion. It is a simple yet complex explaination of the origin of God. You can believe in God or not is up to you not for me to force you to do or believe. But this is what the bible teaches is the origin of God, that there is no "origin" he just simply was, is and always will be. 2. is there more than one god? No..... 3. is scientology a real religion? yes...a false religion 4. is there really a Satan? yes...you must believe in God to accept this and to accept this you must believe in God...catch 22 5. did Mary really have a baby without some "thing" happening? (nothing nasty notice) yes....you must believe in God to accept this and to accept this you must believe in God...catch 22 6. is there really any evidence that Jesus walked on water?. Yes.....eye witness accounts...recorded in history 7. did Bruce almighty really take over God's duties?? seeing if you're really reading!! no
