Just one more thought, not sure how it applies, but here goes:
Some guys are so genetically gifted, intelligent, and train hard enough, that they really can by-pass novice and amateur quicker than others.
Example: Tom Nelson.
He was a fair novice, a pretty good amateur, but went on to be a great pro in about a year. I'm sure he trains hard, and he is probably the most intense competitor out there, but he is so gifted that he became a world class pro with wins off of anyone who is anyone in a very short time.
Some guys will probably never be that good no matter how hard they train.

Casey,
Thanks..yes things are good...hope the same for you and your family. Looking forward to seeing you at a upcoming tournament. Will you be at Tahoe?
Also...just wanted to say that I like the idea of novice/beginner classes....it gives new guys a chance to get into armwrestling and have some success right off. When I started...I got my arm handed to me for quite a while....with very little fan fare ;-) and I saw a lot of very talented guys never return after their first tournament because they got beat up so badly. I feel the novice/beginner classes has made armwrestling grow in size over the years.

This topic brings up a question I asked and no one answered (a while back).
On the "Amateur" puller status, How is it that there are guys who keep competing in the "World Amateur Championships", year after year after year after year after year after year after year.......(ok I think I made my point). Enlighten me please, SOMEONE!!!

You know Justin....
The promoter Randy S. needs to follow/enforce his own rules and take control of that. Good point!

Justin,
I believe it goes to the ruling of the World Amateur Championships that you are an amateur if you have never accepted money.
I know of a number of armwrestlers that continued to defend their World Amateur Championship..year after year.

Right Steve!
There are a few pullers that look forward to that tourney each year, and devote themselves to that particular event every October. They have 10+ years but are true "local" World Amateur Champions.

Steve and Steve, I see you guys' point of defending a title but for what really??? You should be getting better each year so why go back and pull amateur pullers? I think this is the point Jess and so many others were trying to make. Defend your Open/Pro titles (state, Pac, unifieds, AAA, etc..) and let true "Amateurs" battle it out for the right to say they are a "World Champion". JMO.

I agree.
If you win the amatuer's you should at least move up a class, or get out. I know guys with like 12 titles, 3 or 4 in a day. They should be out.

Thanks^^^^^ Good luck, hopefully you don't run into the same things as I have with this topic! That or if you do you win!!!! and then it doesn't really matter!!! Most of the time I came out on the winning side(90%).

I would consider you at pro level Justin... you did beat Chandler. I expect to see you do well at nationals.
