My husband Doug would also like to add that when he wrestled Bob bishop it was like grabbing ahold of a tree trunk. He was a very nice guy and quiet. Tooooo Quiet Bob!!! Another one of those gentle Giants. There were a quite a few messup on the brackets yesterday, that's why I wish they would use AAA brackets, but other than that things whet fine. Mark I remember that match. What the ref was telling you is that it wasn't his job to tell your guy to match up pressure. that is what the other guy was doing to him. Alt of side pressure on the gripup and your guy wasn't matching it. At the time the ref was more worried about the grips then i think he would have gottne them more straight. I met Mr. Simon! he is a very nice man and a great puller. Great hook. Congrats to Miss Wimbly(14yrs i think) for taking her first, of what I beleive tho be many, Ohio Championships. You are a very good learner keep up the good work. work on your start and you are going to go far.

Sitting here at the airport thinking
Can't believe I spent the money I did to go to the most unprofessional tournament I have ever seen. Ill post more when I get home. Armwrestling will never go anywhere with tournaments like this.
I know ill piss some off I know some will agree. I don't care.
Next year get new tables or at least bolt them down. Get reffs familar with AAA rules. At least dress in stripes too. Looks a bit more professional.

Some real tough talent at this event.
138 Spine and Harrison could have used some others to help diversify the hookfest they had going... not that I would ever complain about that style, they both worked hard a pulled a ton along with some other tough looking pullers there, get Benjie, Vagzen, JC Childs, and Brent Norris in here and wow that would be something
154 Tim Inman handled the right handed class for the most part but he just could not handle Ray J's hit, he was fast and blasting people no question. Chris Thomas looked good I like how he pulls technically.
171 Cobra and a big Bryon Thomas, Bryon at this weight is scary, Cobra looked very good winning this class, his skill is simply extraordinary, trust me as hooker I know it is tough to pull him in and get him into your power.
189 What more could I ask for than a class full of hookers, Mike West is a great guy too dangerous to leave on the table he showed some crazy staying power and Scott Balinger gets stronger every time I see him.
209 Bowling was hitting like no hooker I have ever seen it was crazy to see him taking off like that considering I have watched him catch and pull through in so many matches over the years, please tell me Mike how to get past that two move hookers curse. The guy he pulled Quinlen, (sp) looked really tough he will be one to watch.
231 Chaffee, wow he looked crazy strong I would have liked to have pulled him just to see what he has there, young Castro was a hitting machine as well, he looked amazing and he has plenty of time to get even better.
Supers, Bishop looked comfortable throughout the class, once he gets moving his way hard to imagine him stopping.
I did not catch alot of the prelims out of my class nor all of the matches, (the pros did not start until 6 PM so I was trying not to get burned out early) I did not see Christina Castro pull, but it was nice to meet her, she was a great cheerleader for virtually every match, it is nice to have someone stay involved like that the entire time.
The overall was fun, Cobra and Bowling went at it, I am not sure what Doug Castro weighs but it was damn hard to get a hold of him and pull him into a hook, his wrist is thick I really had no place to grab him, I would have liked to have gotten past him and pulled Bishop for the final but Doug was just too hard to try and control, congrats to him beating me twice and winning the overall against Bishop.
As I always do at events I get to see old friends and get to meet great new people I may only had known previously from this board or not at all. It was the first time I ever pulled next to a swimming pool before... I was walking around in my riser shoes hoping I did not fall in. There were some things that could be better about the event but you cannot deny the talent or the tough pulling that went on there.

Thanks JP, I did not hit anyone... something I still need to get worked out and my elbow is hurting particularly after the match with Bowling in the overall.. But I feel a bit more like my old self in being able to pull through the pain like I used to back in my west coast days... pulling every weekend all summer long hurting the entire time, maybe now I can get back to not being such a wuss about it.

Simon,
Did you only compete right handed? Also, about how many competitors were in the 89 class?

Thank you Simon. I don't consider the sport of armwrestling a battle but time of learning and teaching. Where friends get together to have fun and rock it out on the table. If attitudes of hate and revinge prevail in this sport than that is when it is no longer fun for me. My greatest saying to my kids that come to train with us is " you can't win all the time, if you do you never learn" It is a humbling sport and all you have to do is have some fun.
Mr. Hirst, I am sorry that you came all that way for to feel as bad as you do. I hope that you could come back to this tourney and get a better feel from it next year.

Frank, I totally agree with you. I quit going to that tourney for a few reasons as well. The referees don,t know the rules and the tables are junk. The last time we were there two years ago, they had the brackets so messed up that some people got to lose 4 times when others won and never got put in the brackets properly. Hell, a few years ago, my son, Boomer was pulling Gene Dunn and the referee said go and Boomer flashed Gene. The referee then said he was giving Gene a re-do!! That used to be an awesome tourney but alot of pullers go to it once and vow to never go back!

Congrats to all of the winners! Dave Chaffee got lucky again! Bryon Thomas is the greatest. And who is Chris Thomas? Is he Bryons brother?

Great job once again to the Casto Crew WV in the house baby......
Great job Ray J. I told ya when the full of fire super fast Ray shows up he is hard to beat...
I went to this tourney last year and as far as talent they have it for sure but have to agree the refs dont set people up good and the tables are crap I mean come on I have one I built myself that is way better, I mean get a table that isnt fallin apart and bolt it down...
Safety people look at the broken arms they have had at this event.....
