I want to add, Frank and others are right about these things. My guys knew in advance what this would be like, but Dave wanted to go.
This was the PREMIERE tournament 15 years ago, just a step below Nationals. Without pointing a finger at any one person, it is just a shame it has lost such esteem.
Karen cannot police every event, I assume the people running an event are the ones accountable for meeting the AAA standards.
I personally think the best choice is to go to an event run by one of the main people, like Karen, Denise, Pete, to know its run by people who know and try to do things right.
Its a shame Frank came so far to be disappointed. He is a good guy, I'm happy to have met him.

sanc·tioned; sanc·tion·ing 1 : to make valid or binding usually by a formal procedure (as ratification) 2 : to give effective or authoritative approval or consent ..... What is sanctioning? Sounds like an association has been dodging a responsibility for years...an event that refuses to follows a sanctioning bodys rules? Am I missing something here? ...I dont get it !!!!!! Someone plz explain.

Those responsible or that have anything to do with the AAA can't seem to explain. All I got is we need to ask what the rules are before or during the tourney.
I dont know

Get a maid!
That's it Karen? Boy for someone who seems to always has an answer you seem stumped and quick to end the controversy. Why talk to them? Ill never go again. I just hope next year no one wastes their money like I did.

There are definitely problems with this tournament that in my opinion could easily be taken care of. The thing that concerns me is that these are the same problems that should have been taken care of several years ago, speaking only from my experience with the tournament. I think the fact that the attendance has slipped so far speaks volumes to the position of the armwrestling community at large, which is really unfortunate, because despite the problems, there are excellent armwrestlers that show up every year to compete, in what was perhaps the best state championship tournament in the country. Most noticeable to me was the lack of amateur class pullers, the future stars that could benefit from the experience of seeing or competing against guys like Cobra, Mike West, Mike Bowling, Ray Jenkins, Bryon Thomas.....guys that made this tournament the one to be at in the past. Young guys read this board, see the negative comments, and obviously are choosing to go somewhere else, and thats too bad. I think everyone would like to see the AAA Ohio State tournament to return to the level once associated with it, and it wouldn't take much to get that done.
I would like to say thank you to Jim Wagner and Team Erie for picking me up off of the streets of Pittsburgh so that I could come out and play too. A better bunch of guys you will not find, and they can all pull, believe that. Even that Chappelle guy was cool, no matter how much broccoli he eats....maybe it's like spinach to Popeye??
Thank you Simon B. for the compliment. I have never had anyone say that I was technical on the table, but I know that I would like to be, and perhaps I am on my way. The 154 class was stacked, and I am very proud to have finished where I did. Ray Jenkins....he may talk a bit much, but it's all in fun and nobody can say he didn't back it up. He tore it up, period. Congrats, Ray. I'll be working hard to catch you, trust me. Tim Inman did a great job also. I made a mistake, and he made me pay, and thats what its all about. 1-1, Tim. I can't wait for the tie-breaker.
Bryon Thomas, first tournament since last years Harley Pull, and he was awesome. Never pulls left handed, ever, but he decided to give it a try, and what happens? First place. He is still a beast. Yes, Cobra got him again right handed, but that does not diminish what Bryon has done, or is capable of doing in the future. He works as hard as anyone, and he is getting better, which is kind of scary.
Cobraaaaaaa.....I want to learn the #7. And I think when we're done armwrestling, we should hit the pro karaoke circuit together. Tell me something good, indeed. Pimmmmmmmmp.
Thats all I've got for now. It was great to see my old friends, and to make some new ones. See you all somewhere down the road. Oh, and one more thing.....Beware the Danimal.

Chris I am hooker, technical for me is knowing which foot to put forward and which goes back.
I think you understand your table tools and you use them well, so many guys I think copy styles from others to the point they are not using their natural approach or body structure appropriately.

Simon, I get what you're saying about using what you've got. I'm just trying to get as well rounded as possible, and it felt like I was able to do a little bit of everything that day, which was nice. Inside, outside, straps....I had a good day. Still plenty to improve on, but that's true for all of us. Also, I'm pretty sure there's a little more there for you than knowing which foot goes where

This is Kenny Flynn, and i have been to the Ohio state tournament for atleast 15 years including this year. one of the hardest tournaments to bring home a trophy let alone a championship out of the 15 years that i have competed in this tournament never once did i leave feeling the reason i lost was because of the referee's. Rather than somebody who didn't win walk away from the tournament bad mouthing it maybe that person should work a little harder and up there level of competition before they come to Sams tournament and write in a championship.
